Send them each a PM, if you're lucky, they might reply... I think they work shifts?

*They get a notification in their Outlook inbox for every PM sent to them on MyADSL...

Ag no, I can just guess how annoying that meerkat must be on your phone!

I read somewhere else that Vodafone 'brand' the phone in the Organizer firmware (almost like it's 'hard coded') and I really don't know how you can get rid of it. Buy unbranded P990i?

Well, D-DAY with the new firmware is almost over and...

I've still got 14.1MB RAM free!! Can you believe it? With no Swiss Manager?

So, what have I been doing with the phone?

-Took a few video clips + pictures with the camera.
-Added pics to contacts, changed a few, created new 'folders'.
-Played my first game of Vijay Singh golf - just had to try it once?
-Played with the video phone.
-Scanned a business card with the business card scanner, works very nice!
-'Recreated' all my radio stations + saved all RDS presets.
-Listened to some of my CDs through media player.
-Checked pics in the picture galleries.

...and a few other things.

So far, so good. ;)

at least the davinci team reckon a week or two until their unbrand release

Hi KVI

I've got an unbranded MTN P990 so I wouldn't know, but have you've tried a Master Reset to get rid of that meerkat? Maybe that could do the trick.

Just remember Master Reset wipes all your settings, 3rd party software installed, mails and messages etc. Maybe do some proper reading up on it on My-Symbian before attempting such a radical step..

yeah also did it to my w810... worked a dream

starting to hate the fact that voda thinks they OWN my phone

Vodafone was quite 'reserved' when the P800 launched - my phone only had modified startup & shutdown screens, but went out the window with my first firmware upgrade at....wait for it....a Vodafone service centre in Oxford Circus! After the upgrade I had the Sony Ericsson startup & shutdown screens...

Isn't it ironic?

Hey, i have a really moronic question: Is this firmware update the one that we were all waiting for or is there still going to be another big one in the beginning of feb?

Yes & No.

Yes, because a lot of bugs have been fixed + phone is much more stable.

No, because the memory management is not yet perfected + few other issues.

I don't think the next firmware will be released that soon. They don't generally release firmware updates that quickly, because there are so many 'branded' phones & all must get a 'different' firmware + a lot of testing.

The phone just 'feels' much more stable & responsive, so, for me, this firmware is definitely worth it... ;)

Video streaming

Hi guys & girls
After all of my troubles in getting my P990, i have had a good experience with the phone thus far.
There is 1 thing that is extremely dissapointing to me though. The media player. I have looked far and wide and still havent been able to stream video to my p990. Sure i can watch a video file of my memory card, but thats it...
Has anyone actually found any sites that has any videos worth streaming?

Hey, this is another on of my morono questions: how many of you guys use the stylis more than your fingers for the touchscreen and vise versa and do you think it is bad to not use the stylis all the time and use your fingers on the touch screen? Just for interest sake?

You've just highlighted one of the things that REALLY makes the P990i an extraordinary phone (and all the other P-series phones!). :)

My advice to you - use your P990i in whatever way feels best/easiest for you. I like to whip out my stylus (you know, like a king will do with his sword ;)) most of the time, but that practice was installed in me from my P800, P900 & P910 days.

The keyboard on the P990i is VERY good (not like the one on the P910's flip!) & feels quite durable - so I'm finding myself using it more and more, instead of writing on the screen....
