I saw it on www.vodacomdirect.co.za a week ago, and phoned them then to upgrade my contract with the P990i and they not charging me anything. But if you do it on the site it also doesn't show any additional charges.

Went to reserve me one at the" Corporate cellular Connection in K90 Centre, East rand mall"
As per them their waiting list is some 50 people already. And they still have no clue when MTN will be releasing the phones to them.
Most probably early next week.

I know this is an MTN thread, but something about being heard somehow channels some of the frustration - and I am SOOOOO FRUSTRATED with waiting! The biggest disappointment about this phone has been how people have had to do nothing but WAIT for it for months now.
I know Vodacom received stock - I called them and asked if they could give me an update on my order, and they provided me with the courier company's phone number. I got so hopeful, to me it sounded as if the courier company might actually have the phone - but alas they have not yet received it to dispatch it to me.
I don't know where in the supply chain of this P990i in the world the blame lies but I hope heads are rolling over this. I just wish Vodacom could accurately tell me how many units they have, and how many customers are waiting, and where in this line I stand. It's hard to be patient

Whoever gets one - please give feedback on how they run.. I'm sick of Nokia and want to try something a bit different. "Old technology = tried and tested" in my books.
I saw a great talk time quoted on one of the sites, but some comments from users that it isn't much different to the competition in real life???

*IF* this mythical phone ever makes it to my doorstep I will let you know how it runs. I was thinking of doing my own little 'review' on it - I'm also a bored nokia user looking for something new to play with so yeah.

Thanks for trying. but it looks as if they are just feeding us BS. If you work for them they mostprabably telling you the truth. I've also been waiting for the illusive P990 for months though. I phoned some dealers and they say ealy next week.Who knows?

my friend got a friend to bring one out from sweden for him... says great phone but VERY unstable. says it needs firmware upgrade asap.
keeps telling him... restarting to improve performance...
could be why we are not seeing this phone in the shops yet???

From what I have gathered on other websites, reading user reviews etc. the instability is greatly improved with a firmware upgrade - which you can do online through Sony Ericsson's website.
Users have also pointed out that if you maintain your task manager properly things improve a great deal, i.e. it is important to close unused programmes that are running in the background. I'll have to see how this works out when (if) I get the phone myself.
hehe. OuchIm with Nashua Mobile. I phoned them again today. Got bad news. According to them the networks pulled back the P990 yesterday. Now they cant give me pricing or time when they will receive stock again?? Can anyone confirm or refute?

I Spoke to SE yesterday. They told me that the first load of stock has been distributed to all the SE shops. Second lot of stock to arrive in about two weeks and will be distributed to all service providers. I'm also sick of waiting. Even MTNDD looks as if he is at a loss for words.

Just spoke to a lady at a Voda Shop, she said their launch date 4 the P990 was the 24th but their stock still hasn't arrived. She said the launch date has moved to today. Nothing surprises me anymore.
