Might be a good idea till Sony releases the Mac Suite for P990i. It's hard to believe that Sony choose to ignore the Mac community - they should know better & losing potential customers?

Best equalizer setting for my P990i's media player seems to be 'normal', but I'll have to play around with it some more.... ;)
 
Yup. Use the Windows machine for backups and will look at the sync interface.

Annoyed that SE not supporting mac ! No isync, no PC suite, no chance to mount the phone as a USB device. Oh well.

I do like the new qwerty keypad - very easy to use - and love the fact that certain keys have more than one function mapped to them, esp the up/down/sideways arrows and the functionality the OK and DEL keys have in most apps. I'm also using the stylus a little less...

Maybe your SP (where is it by the way ? ) may become redundant ;) )

Yes, I haven't touched the stylus since yesterday & sitting here jamming with the radio - the RDS function is ultra-cool!!! :)

Really like the keyboard & extra functionality, for example, to scroll radio stations, just use the up/down button on the keypad...

*Now I must try & figure out the camera, but after taking a few pics with it yesterday, I can see that my Cybershot U20 is gonna gather dust in the drawer... :(

Just checked the mail box and there are two registered items waiting @ Highveld post office for me!! :)

Really enjoying the phone, the RTFM is really my sense of humor its like telling someone where to get off but in a nice way. Just one question if i may. Why does the docking station have a port for the charger if it shows charging through the usb connection with out having the charger connected? Is the phone sourcing power form the laptop? :rolleyes:

Don't you find it difficult to use the Qwerty keyboard with the flip open thingy still attached? :confused:
Still use my Stylus first phone with one. Novelty hasn't worn off yet.

No, I had the P910i and got used to it - mind you, on the P910i Sony put the whole keyboard on the inside of the flip, in order to get a Blackberry license. I don't think I've ever used it? :confused: But I do use the P990i's keyboard a lot, cos some keys have more functionality (check aqualung's earlier post) & it's really easy to use - depending on your finger size, I must add!

Few months ago I got a MTN MyCall 100 contract + a Motorola V3 Razr, so I had some ample keyboard training and actually find the P990i's keypad extremely useful, so much so, that I haven't touched my stylus for a day! :eek:

I'm head over heals with my P990i now - best damn phone I've ever owned! :)

Guess I was lucky, it already had the latest firmware on it when I got it, so I didn't have to go through all the woes like the first owners...;)

@Bruce000 - I think it's so you can plug the headphones in to one port on the stand, if you want to listen to music/radio while the phone is connectec to the PC via the other port? Because yes, as far as I know it does charge from the PC via the USB cable.
Or, it will allow youto charge your phone from the mains, while connected to PC/laptop, if you don't want to use yr laptop to charge the phone.

*Sorry can't resist, RTFM p120, and scrutinise the diag on p23 :p

PS if you are going to use the stylus a lot, may I suggest considering a decent screen protector. Or you may end up with scratches on your screen

*Come to think of it, I'm actually glad they left out Solitaire on the P990i. I think that was one of the major reasons why my screen didn't last too long. :(

The P910i was a good phonre for it's time and served many of us well for 2 years...

Mine will be buried with full battle honours...:)

( actually it still works fine, keeping it as spare )

Same here. When I go to Active Virgin in the evenings, I take a Motorola V3 Razr with me & leave the P910 (will soon be the P990i :)) at home.

I'm sometimes a bit lazy to sync my phone with my pc & when I got hi-jacked last year (phone was in the car), I lost a lot of business.

Don't want it to happen again.... :(
 
After giving the matter a lot of thought, the king has decided to change the meaning of 'RTFM'.

In future, it will be translate to: 'Read The Funky Manual'.

I guess most of those reviews have been from people who got old firmware phones, or Vodafone branded ones....would've liked to do a poll and see who's got Vodafone ones. And let's be honest, the first P990i's that got released, were bug-ridden phones!

Well, I took a chance (not really, you lot convinced me a while ago :)) and it paid off! Woo-hoo!! :D

If you think about it, there is currently no other phone on the market that has the same features as the P990i (same goes for the P910i). :cool:

I went to MTNSP on Friday morning for my upgrade. When I got there I asked them if they had a P990i for me. To my suprise the guy went to the back and came back to me and asked if I want one. I couldn't believe they had one available. I didn't even order one. Then I asked for a dummy just to see what the phone looks like when I hold it in my hand. Boy was I disgusted.:sick:

For the first time in 13 years I went home without a new phone. I'll rather wait a while till the HTC TyTN or HTC Mteor becomes available.

Hopefully it won't be too long.

Anyone out there who can help me out?? What is a decent phone to get?

Between me and my wife we have the following phones at the moment:

i-Mate Jasjar
SE W810i
SE P900i
Samsung D600
Nokia 6131
Nokia 6630

Any suggestions???
