Sony Ericsson P990i

Hey all :D

I have just done the firmware update... Just a quick question: I cannot for the life of me get Swiss Manager Pro to autostart anymore. Installed it again and made sure that autostart was selected... Anyone else having this problem on the new firmware?

That is a known problem with the new firmware & Swiss Manager & confirmed by CellPhoneSoft, the developer of Swiss Manager.

In the firmwares released on Jan 2, 2007, SonyEricsson restricted the access to system functions used for autostart. The change affects BootMan (it can not autostart) and all other programs that use the same functions for boot-time execution, including Swiss Manager Pro. We are looking into the issue and will release a new upgrade version of BootMan as soon as a workaround is determined.

For now the quickest way to perform "autostart" is to invoke BootMan manually and then press the "Test" button. We are sorry for the inconvenience but the change was not introduced by us.

Thanks Kingrob... As usual the King knows all... ;)

Cheer up, kvi, it's really not THAT bad?

We all still owe you for one of the best things that has ever happened to the P990i - the Vista theme!! :)

Hanno, give it a go & see what happens.

I think it copies the update files first to your pc, before it installs it on the phone.

Ok , gave it a try.

It asks me to take out sim card , switch off phone etc....

then connect to pc .

Now it is trying download phone software from SE via my Dial up. 11min have given me 1% of total download.

Guess I am gonna have to make another plan.

BTW.. I find that I get MUCH better battery life if I switch the phone off while charging rather than on .. as in 3 days vs one.

Cheers

It is better to switch off the phone & then charge it, but the screen stays on the whole time & I don't like it. :(

This new firmware is impressing me more & more!

Just checked the status of my phone and I now have 16.4MB RAM free! One of these days I might reach 20MB...

now I just have to reset all my settings.

Update 2
Yes it official
I just ****ed up my phone doing an update.
Its dead
Nothing

Damn, rellik, that is not lekker. :(

You will have to send it to a Sony Ericsson service centre & as far as I know, the only one is in Midrand. If you're lucky, a MTN service centre might be able to fix it....take it to them first.

My update took 25 minutes, but iBurst was pumping at 07:20 in the morning & not too many people was aware of the update then! :)

The Golf game should still be there?! I took it for a spin & it looks much smoother...

*Hanno, if you want the Vijay golf game, PM me with your email address & I'll email it to you. The size of the sis file is 3.76MB, so make sure your mailbox can handle it... ;)
