Sony Ericsson P990i

Sounds and themes

A question regarding themes:
I see some themes have extra sounds included (if you look in the compressed UTZ file as well as the included XML file). For example the newest theme from UIQ themselves ( http://www.uiq.com/uiqphones_uiq_themes_download.html ) - UIQ Azure, they've included in the theme sound for MMS Alerts. Where can I set the separate alert tone for MMS (like in the P910i)? I can only set it for "Message", "Email" and "Voicemail"..

Also in the Azure theme I see they have included new sound clip files for KeyClick and ScreenClick.. (you can see they refer to these files in the included XML file <systemsound id="HWButtonPressed" and id="screentap"> respectively.
The theme however does not seem to be able to change these default sounds for the P990i, so, do you guys know anything about this? And this theme was developed by UIQ themselves.

Aqualung - I think you will like the Azure theme. Simplistic with a few small nice changes.

Hey MTNDD,

You can use push on the P990i...
You can get exchange active sync off the SE website which enables you to either sync manually, every 10 min, 30 min, etc... and of course push :)

As for HSDPA, I find my browsing on 3G more than adequate :)

Stupid question... Are you guys using a free version of the new SM Pro? if so what is the url, cause the one that aqualung posted seemingly only has a trial...

No, never stated to have HSDPA. The broadband they refer to is 3G as advertised. Only some phones (and the new HTC smartphones like Meteor and TyTn) have HSDPA.

first for no hspdepda and secondly still no firmware upgrade for vodacom p990s

No, the P990i doesn't support HSDPA.

Only the newer phones support it, like Gecko said. The Nokia N95 will be the first Nokia phone to support it.

im trying to send an mp3 file via email to my P990i, but it doesnt work, has anyone tried this?

im at work and dont have my data cable or bluetooth dongle with me.
 
@kvi,

the FW upgrade isn't the be-all and end-all of life with a P990i ;)

I still have memory leaks with it....

Far more important is the latest version of Swiss Manager...it deals with the problems more effectively...

aqualung, can you post or PM me a link to a full version (hopefully free) of this Swiss Manager program?

I should be getting my P990i tomorrow!! Can't wait!

PS Gecko, thanks for suggesting the azure theme

What I am currently using and very happy with is the 'pollen' theme from SE-UIQ...I have modified it to suit my tastes so some of the font is in black, and those pesky grey taskbars and the FO activity bar are the same colour as the background ( my best approximation to the 'transparency' effects I was looking for ...A very nice blue theme, simple and "soothing" to the eye

( but with the floral background probabaly a bit too 'girly' for you guys !!! :p )

I agree. I used that theme for about a week last year until moving on to test others. The floral background is not too bad at all :)

Do you edit the themes with SE's Theme Editor?
 
Yes, on my Mac ! I'm using shareware called Graphics Converter to modify the images ....the Theme Editor works quite well...had to fiddle a bit with some existing themes from SE-UIQ to figure out what the different theme components are called and look like...

Anyway I'm happy with the result I got ( I personally think every theme should have taskbars that blend into background....think how ugly the vista theme would look if there were big grey taskbars and activity bars all over it ...!

Had a look at the 'pollen' theme, but it looks a bit cheap for a P990i theme - maybe would've been ok for my P800. :p

I'm still using the Vista theme and don't think it will change anytime soon - simply fantastic & looks awesome on my phone. :)

*Very impressed with Swiss Manager 1.3 so far..... nice.
 
hey aqua and king... hey im not really down and depressed :)

just feels like the right thing to say at the time to express my frustration at being left behind... im smiles ALL the way. and even if my phone crashed every 10 minutes, i would still love it and say its the best phone in the world (coz it is :)

as nice and cute as the iphone is... it still seems a little simple and plain dont you think, compared to what we can really do on our phones. and im loving all the new apps that seem to have suddenly appeared for our phones.
