Sony Ericsson P990i

Lol, this is actually quite scary. Sometimes ,you know, you're playing around with someone. Sms them something slightly impropper. Then the GF gets hold of the phone, starts smsing and the whole thing pops up...eish. I'd better be carefull.

Just heard:

Apple iphone does not support 3rd party apps, it is a closed software that only supports programs from apple itself.

It therefore does not have java applet!!!

No more mxit! Dang:mad:

Security Software for P990?

Hey - anyone found any decent software to store secured passwords/info and/or files?

Yes, the P990i is indeed a fantastic phone, and if they sort out the firmware bugs & release a higher capacity battery, it will be the best mobile phone I've ever owned. Guess I can live with the battery, got the SE car charger.... :)

I am with you all the way.

actually i was wondering if you guys are having problems with shooting videos. i always get frozen frames (it is like strobia). at first i thought the memory was full but after closing all programs and trying again .. guess what.. the same thing .. can't get a decent one min video.

but hay .. still love myp990 :D

Hello again

I thought you should know about this site

http://www.proclipusa.com/home/home.aspx

they provide car mounts and brackets specific for your car whatever the model. I use one with the SE P990 car holder and SE car charger which connect to the car holder. it is amazing works like a charm. no need to make holes, use the suction holders or connect the charger manually every time. just click and go.

Thanks for the info. I will get two, one for each car, the wife will use a SE w800 in the other vehicle. It will be first time we will be able to share chargers and other accessories. Makes life a little simpler.

The universal car holder that takes both the w800 and the P990-- can one plug the car charger into it? http://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp...&cid=0&pid_type=accessory&acc_pid=0&pid=10339

Seems like a good way way for us to be able to use either phone in either car, we often swop cars. The site does not show the bottom of the holder so I don't know what one can plug into it.

Bump!

I would not recommend using that in South Africa, unless you want a smashed window or something worse. Rather use a bluetooth carkit and put your phone away....

One ex-hi-jacker said in a Carte Blanche interview that they walk around in shopping malls and if they see you with a nice mobile phone, they'll follow you and hi-jack you for the mobile, the car is not important.

Time to get 'street-wise'.... the SE P990i is a 'nice' mobile phone.

Yes, in the UK you can still use that - here in SA your phone/you won't last that long...

Wish I could also use that in my car... :(

Hey - anyone found any decent software to store secured passwords/info and/or files?

Hi Brucem, Handy Safe is a very good application. Been using it since my P800 -> P910 days. They have an UIQ3 version now. It also syncs with your PC, which is nice for backups, adding, editing on pc, etc.

Toevallig today they announced a similar app on My-Symbian. See link:

I don't know how good this app is though.

Thanks Gecko - that makes sense for protecting info... anything out there to be able to protect files i.e. encrypting or password protecting files so they can't be opened/viewed on the device without a password?

I think there is something - I'll have a look.
