Sony Ericsson P990i

Gmail App - Soft Keys Wrong in Flip Closed Mode

Strange thing - just downloaded latest gmail mobile app (1.01) - connects and logs in fine, but in flip closed mode, the two soft keys always map wrong. e.g. Left one says "Refresh" and Right one "Menu" - but if you click the Right one you get a Refresh, and the Left one does nothing...

Any ideas/similar experiences?

Thanks kvi - just to let you know: just followed the same procedure as ErnestF, and Vodacare is going to unbrand my P990 - at first they told me they couldn't, but I got them to phone the senior technicians in Jhb, who told them how they could...

Just a quick one

How does one quote selected text from a previous post? At the moment I am copying the entire post and then deleting the non relevant bits. I am sure there is a faster way.

Press the "Quote" button the the bottom of the post you want to quote to and edit to taste.

Quoting

Yeah thats i have been doing. I thought there might be a quicker way to just highlight a particular sentence in a long post.

Memory Usage

Got my P990 a couple of weeks ago and am driving it to the max (BT 3G at the moment)

Can I get an indication from other users as to how much free RAM they have on average. I am running Swiss Mrg Pro, but even then I still get only about 20% RAM free. I have 40MB free on the C: drive (does having an empty C: drive increase the operating RAM available)?

Also, is there any way of moving an installed app from internal memory to an MS?

Have fun

Thanks PsyLent for the advise on the task manager. Have been closing programs all day after use and my phone has not hanged or restarted all day.

I had my Vodacom firmware removed, and the Sony Ericsson firmware put on my P990i. I highly recommend doing this: Vodacom has no right to lock our phones in a place where we can't have access to updates that make our phone more stable and usable! Anyone who would like to know how to have this done for free, contact me....

The new firmware is a minor upgrade - still R4 version.

I just don't have the strength to reinstall all my contacts, pictures, internet accounts, etc for a minor firmware upgrade.

Will be waiting for the R5 version firmware before I'll think about upgrading my phone's software again.

Kingrob - does the restore of a backup not work on the 990? When I did firmware upgrades on my 910 all I did was do a full backup, do the upgrade, and then restore the backup. All of my account settings, contacts etc were kept in tact once I had done the restore

Hi

Should have done a full backup. Now have to reconfigure everything.

Do a backup. Then upgrade.

@Wynsam: I has been reported that restoring from a backup actually breaks some things that got updated. It seems that some updated files in the phone gets overwritten by the older versions, and then some of the old (and actually fixed) issues re-appear.

Hi there

Yes I read that on the Esato forum. Looks like we are stuck with reconfiguring the phone after each FW update. At least it is a high speed usb connection so its goes fast enough.
