Hi kvi, why don't you try to unbrand your phone like others reported they could? I think you will always be 'behind' firmware upgrades since VC won't go through the trouble updating 'their' branded FW with each SE update.
 
because unless i can find a "contact" to unbrand im pretty screwed... coz every vodacare up here in jhb tells me that i have the latest firmware and cant unbrand by law blah blah and i tell them to speak to their chief nobs and no one gets back to me and so the circle continues !!!

ive "unbranded" twice now only to find that frikken meerkat still grinning at me each time i switch on..
anybody have a contact person for me ?

Was this from bidorbuy? Please let me know your transfer speed. IE How long its takes to write say a gig to the card in your laptop or other fast device. I need to know as I am wanting to use the card in the Sony A100 as well and it needs a high speed card.

I also don't post much. Just hanging in the background and reading all the posts.

I really don't have Many problems with my Phone. Since the upgrade I've had two restarts. But I seriously under utilise my phone. No MTN 3G coverage down here. :(

p990 with flip off

hi,

does anyone here use the p990 with the flip removed? i find that although it looks cooler, SE did not really plan well for the phone to beused in this mode.... For example, can i make a call without touching the stylus :)

Used mine with the flip off for about a week last year (I agree, the phone looks much better without it), but dialing without the flip frustrated me too much so I put it back on (especially when one is driving). Also playing the media player, the flip comes in handy.

Maybe with the new firmware they did something about it.. will check it out.

I use the phone flip removed! It works fine. You can make a call without the stylus. Hold space bar until the phone screen launches, use the numbers on the keyboard and hit the enter (ok) button on the keyboard. Haven't figured how to end the call yet.

I personally just use my fingers.

The only thing I wish I had access to, no flip is the little menu on the bottom right. The only way to get into it now is to tap the ^ with the stylus. My fingers are too big for that one...
 
Never used the flip. Took it off on day one and never looked back. Voice dailing, speed dailing and contacts are close to 90% of my calls and the balance my finger does fine for. Forgotten what the flip looks like!!

Hi Bruce!!

I will also no be posting much in the near future. From tomorrow (and the foreseeable future) I'll be at building sites most of the time, armed with my laptop, E220 modem and (only) a 350MB MTN data bundle for the whole month.

I'm downgrading my iBurst package from 3GB to 1GB tomorrow....
