Sony Ericsson P990i

So what do I get for posting the 2000th post? I'm sure there's a 4GB Memory Stick DUO going for that achievement or something...

You're absolutely right, Brucem!

I think MTNDD said that you'll get a voucher to redeem at MTNWorld!! :p

I love this forum! I look on my phone with pride, but I'm kind of miff because I don't have a credit card so I can't get a screen protector. I lost my stylus though and can't find my spare one so rarely use my touch screen anyway but hopefully it will remain undamaged until I can get a screen protector.

@kvi - good luck for your phone, hope you get it back and in better-than-ever condition soon!

Eh...I'll sponsor the memory card. I just need your bank account number, branch, pin code, a copy of your ID and you ATM card. :P Oh....and your car keys.

@PsiLenT

I remember someone posted (much) earlier in this very thread that they bought a screen protector locally. Do a search - maybe there's a shop close to you!

And when you do get yourself a credit card one day, you can buy the original SE P990 stylusses online. I don't think they're too expensive.

@Gecko

Thanks man will check it out - I still have my spare stylus SOMEWHERE if I could just remember where I put that box - been sorting out old clutter the last few months and must have accidentally shipped the box off to the garage I guess!

have you managed to get hold of the top dog in order to debrand your phone in the process?

@kvi
Maybe when you get it back it will be a P990is:D with a wild cat exhaust system and one of those big fins to make it go faster.:p

sis man guys...

my 990 went to hospital under very dire circumstances. NOT plastic surgery

I dropped mine in the drink (actually a puddle of garden water) a couple of days ago.

You have never seen a battery coma of a p990 so quickly before.

stripped of the flap, shook out the water, placed it on top of my PC screen for a day(nice and warm) and switched on.

works like a charm. only the sliding lock button on the side is a bit scratch from the mud/dust/ground in the slide mechanism.

Ohhh no! I had to dig this thread out of page 2? What's going on?

I'm sad to report, that after a while of ownership... my phone crashed for the first time today. Holding the power button reset it, however it had much less battery power when it came back up (and hence ended up going flat before the day was out).

Lets hope this isn't the start of more. :-)

still no news on my phones condition...

gosh i really hope it doesnt take too long, i have to leave for lagos on friday and wont be back for a couple months.... gosh never thought of that last week when i dropped it off... gulp

Let's hope so... my phone has already restarted itself twice 'to improve performance' & once froze up - and that's with the latest firmware.

But, other than that, I guess it works ok.

Can't imagine it will take them THAT long to fix it? I once had to replace the flip of my P910i (SonyEricsson service centre in Midrand) and they told me it will take a week. When I said to them that they can just as well replace my screen, because it was all scratched, they quoted me R1200 for a new one and replaced the screen and flip in half an hour.

Weird, hey?

Hey kvi

Phone them to tell about your time deadline. Make some sort of threat (like reporting them to Sony Ericsson International ;) ) and say they must replace your phone with a new (generic) P990 before Wednesday. That might wake them up.

Good luck man, and let us know.
