Sony Ericsson X10 range - Android upgrade now available

I've got to give them credit on this one..

Its what, 3 weeks after the initial rollout started.... Granted its still onlly Android 2.1 but hey.

As the "renter" of one these handsets I am actually really happy with it. I got what I expected, an entry level Android device.
Granted SE have been slow on the uptake of new droid versions. I can only hope that they doing a bucket load of usability tests to justify the delays.

Done the update and no issues to report.

Updated my GF's x10 mini pro. No issues to report either. She's over the moon about the facebook/contacts picture updates and the fact the bluetooth is working like it should now.

Did mine last week already - works like a charm (careful not to run to many resident programs) the cpu on the little mini's just can't cope.

Just in time to only be 2 major versions behind as 2.3 is about to be released.

Are you sure about that? I hear conflicting things. One is that Gingerbread will be 2.3, but then others call it 3.0, so not sure what the official word is from Google.

There was some developer somewhere calling it 2.3, but you're right in that it hasn't been officially confirmed yet. The numbering is kinda arbitrary anyway - that it is Gingerbread is what is important.

So old news. Debranded & rooted my X10 about a month ago with android 2.1...Catch a wake up SE & vodafone.

did this update first week of november because i knew this would take ages if i waited but not as long as i thought it would. well done SE SA!!

Don't know/care if this has been posted before, but if you need to sync your contacts and calendar with Outlook, try this:

Forget about Moxier, SESync and Googlesync with their duplicate and incomplete entries. Once you've used this you'll wonder what you ever did without it.

Can anyone help me synchronise my phone and PC. I am having trouple locating the Sony Ericsson sync tab. When i set up the phone i set up the google sync but that is limited as is does not allow me to sync my stuff with outlook. Been struggling with this for 4 months

Why not just go full on googles and skip the whole outlook?

Everything at my work is Outlook based. It's easier for me to merge my business and personal contacts/calendars into a single client.

I tried googlesync and got very frustrated. To sync outlook with gmail account you need to run a desktop app for calendars and for contacts manually export a csv file and import into gmail. For me the sync was horrible with duplicate entries all round and birthdays/ reminders not syncing correctly. For a birthday, for instance, I'd either get reminded 00:00 or not at all and not at the time I chose. Also read somewhere that google contacts and calenders are not private.

With this app you plug your phone in, press sync and voila! You can explore your contacts and calender (as well as calls, alarms, messages, files) and make changes and sync both outlook and phone simultaneously. For emails I use Moxier.

Have a look at My Phone Explorer. Very nice free app to sync Contacts / Calender / SMS ect. Doesn't do e-mails though. Go look here . The latest version 1.8 supports SE Android phones.
