I've just bought a Sony H20 - for the price (R2800) it's a fantastic camera.
The smile shutter is a load of fun, and the 720p recording is amazing!

I'd recommend it to anyone looking in the price range.

(dang the 3 char limit on searching, no idea if this cam has been discussed before)

Bought one today for my father.
Very nice little camera, had a tough time chosing it over the Canon SX120 IS but at the end of the day it felt best in hand, had more features, (way)better build quality. Was a gamble but very happy.

me too. it's a very nice camera... makro has a special on it... i got mine for R2600.

and the smile charter is fun too. the Intelligent Scene Recognition is also a nice feature.

The scene recognition does work very well. I'm often amazed at the acuracy.
The photos that are then taken always look good.

I tested with taking a photo at night of a candle, on my previous camera you'd end up with what looked like an unlit candle in daylight. With this guy it had feeling and emiotion, and you could see the candle and the flame :p

sure. one thing that's active though is that you end up wanting more optical zoom:D...

i guess it will have to do for now until i graduate to SLR

Yeah, well I came from 3x, so the 10x on this one is brilliant!

i enjoy using my cousins one...i was thinking of a dslr but think i must stop off at the h20 first..

The H20 has however one "design flaw" which I think is rather problematic: The wide angle of 38mm is problematic for landscape or group photos :(

Just bought my H20. Missed the Game special at R2499 so forced myself to pay R2999. Wanted the superzoom, decent video and extensive functions. Seems to be a good package. Spent the weekend experimenting. Very happy so far - but I wish it had an optical view finder to shoot moving targets. Wannabe a DSLR owner.
