Sony WH-1000XM4

reallllly tempted , saw the xm3 on sale on takealot again R4999
 
I got the XM3, and it was soooo damn good. Then I bought a pair of KEF LSX speakers for my desktop. After listening to the speakers for a week, now my XM3's don't sound good at all :(

I really love them. They both sound really amazing - the anc is mind blowing.

I prefer the xm3 over the xm4.
The sound on the xm3 has more bass than the xm4. But the features on the xm4 is sooo cool - the speak to chat is freaking awesome.

What equalizer settings do you recommend on the headphones?

I'm super happy with the xm3 as anc, take calls, music, audio books, gaming with mic, tv, etc.

Then you obviously need a pair of decent 250ohm, open back and soft cushion for ears studio (critial listening) headphone.

I obviously use those + Dolby Atmos on my pc for gaming or as-is for music. Needless to say if you don't pair with decent soundcard (or music system setup) that can do 250ohm and more you are bullshitting yourself.

Of course the mx3 isn't this type of cans. I got it for the anc and rest is extra...

What I love about my XM3s is the noise cancellation paired with Ambient Sound feature while gaming on my PC - fan noise begone - I leave the Ambient Sound switched to allow voices to penetrate (need to maintain awareness of wife and kids while gaming)

It really is the best of both worlds.
 
I really enjoy my XM3’s for music and gaming.
I do not however like using them at all for video chat. It’s just too “closed in”, even with ANC and ambient off. When talking I prefer being in the open, and then just always use my 3.5mm earpods
 
I am not sure if I picked up a bad batch, but I tried two different pairs of Sony mx4s (at the same store).
The ANC works perfectly until you make or receive a phone call.
I then bought the Bose n700s and these worked differently noise cancelling whilst on a phone call.
Have you guys had the same experience?

I don't have personal experience, but I remember hearing/reading that that is a feature of the XM4's.
