So any guestimation of when the Z3 will be sold via contracts on Vodacom? Upgrade ready for the 20th so hoping it's not too much of a wait!

the z2 is an amazing phone  if the size is too big then go for z3 compact, also an amazing phone. Not the watered down version of flagships like the Samsung mini's...

The Xperia Z3 is already out, you can buy it online from Orange.
Yes, warranty applies to SA

http://store.orange.com/za/mobile-phones/sim-free-phones/sony-xperia-z3-black-265741/

The Xperia Z2 has the same screen as the Xperia Z3, with the latest model only offering a slight increment in performance and camera tech. However, if that 2-day battery life holds up under our scrutiny, the Xperia Z3 would be better suited to anyone who's always on the move.

Is there anywhere on Orange site that it states that South African warranties apply to their phones? I sent them a mail two days ago to ask this very question but they haven't replied.

I have sent them (Orange) Numerous e mails from 2 different e mail accounts ,hell I even got my wife to send them an e mail as well as I was enquiring about a Motorola and some accessories for my LG G3 , they have not replied to one single e mail . I then had a look at HelloPeter and the amount of complaints is really shocking .

I hope you have better luck getting a reply out of them than what Iv had .

I got a reply from Orange store about the warranty and this is what they said ...

Good day
We hope you are well.
If a fault occurs during the warranty period you can contact the manufacturer in South Africa or contact us directly. We can organise a collection and repair your phone on behalf of Sony.
In some occasions the manufacturer do not want to repair it because our devices are European products.
All our devices have 1 year warranty.
We look forward to seeing you online and have a lovely week!
Thank you for contacting us.
Regards,
Brenda

Opposite of what Brenda told you.

He told me I'd need to return the phone to them in the UK

So you can basically do this or that and these guys or the other guys might fix your phone... that's a very wishy washy answer and would make me very worried.

I'm on my phone now so can't double check - but isn't it 5.5k vs 9k?
