Sony Z3

I'm new to this.
Out of 3 Firmware types for South Africa, is the customised one a generic version of the firmware without bloatware or is it for rooted phones?

Should I just get the Nordic version like the others?

So I'm one of you guys now :D
Unfortunately with a 16GB model but oh well, it's a fantastic phone in all other respects.

Just two things irk me and I'm not sure whether Lollipop or Sony are to blame. It seems that I don't have the dedicated media volume slider anymore that my S4 Mini had. So if I turn down a game I end up with silent notifications or ringtone...

And there's no automatic brightness adjustment? Just a standard slider and then a setting which you turn on but it seems to do nothing?

The update should have given you the dedicated media slider as an additional option. When adjusting volume, there will be bell on the left. Tap once for vibrate only, twice to go into additional interruption settings.
On the right, the three lines button gives you the various volume sliders.

For auto brightness, I downloaded an app called slider widget. It has multiple volume sliders as well. May help with above too.

W.r.t. 16Gb.. Get a bigger sd card. The update handles transfer of media ( and since the last update, apps too) to the sd card rather smoothly.

No probs for me with the 16gb either. I use a 32gb class 10 SD card and store my media on that.

I've got a 253mb system update going on just now. I'm hoping it's 5.1.1, still on 5.0.2.

Hmm I have the 3 sliders but it seems like notification sounds and media are both using the same volume and then one game even use my overall phone volume which lowered by ringtone. My Samsung had 4, not that I'm sorry to be rid of the Samsungness though.

SD card, under standard conditions, doesn't help because a game's OOB data usually isn't moved, just the APK and some other insignificant data. So you end up with something like Asphalt 8 - Airborne moving about 100MB of data to the SD card and leaving the remaining 1.5GB of data on the phone. And one or two more games like that and you can never think about putting anything new on the phone ever again. Kind of a shame for all that power to be held back by rather limited storage like that.

Thankfully KingRoot came to my rescue and allowed me to use Link2SD which turns a second partition of your SD card into fake phone memory that it can move 98% of an app and it's data to (requires root, hence KingRoot).

Wow the automatic brightness detection on this phone is hor-freaking-rendous. Luckily Lux Autobrightness exists even if it costs R40 it's like I have a totally new screen on the phone.

Well the guys in the beta try out got a 6.0.1 update 5 days ago (more recent than the z5)... They said last month z3 and z3c were gonna get marshmallow around now... But with that update I would say we gonna wait atleast another month

There are ways to flash it if you head over to xda, but the official program was only released to people in a few countries (Spain and some others)
