Hi,

I need help please. The PC has a J&W Performance Motherboard with onboard sound, which I can't get to operate, so I bought a Meccer 7.1 Channel PCI Sound Card, which will start to work but freezes the PC after a short while or just play no sound at all. I can restart the PC and then it will play for a short while before stopping again, although the player still counts.

Once Envy showed under Device Manager with Legacy, but after a restart, Envy was gone.

I assume the onboard is Legacy according to Device manager, but how do I uninstall it to prevent it from intervening with Envy24 Family Audio Deck v5.20a. It is not under Add/Remove programs.

I did deactivated (so I hope) the onboard sound under “Advance Chipset Features”, “South Bridge Configuration”, “Audio Controller” as “All Disabled”.

PC Specs:
IntelCeleron 430 @ 1.80GHz
1.99 Gb of RAM
Windows XP
Bought this year at Comp Corp (Cheap one since it is for mother)

Thank you in advance.

Firstly, what do you mean you can't get the onboard sound to operate? Didn't it work from the beginning? Have you installed the latest drivers for the onboard sound? What software CD's did you get with the computer?
