SPAM from Vodascum

You know what really bothers me?

The fact that VD and, previously, V3G absolutely went out of their way to help us with Vodacom related issues, yet everyone on these forums tend to abuse them and demand answers. Do you think they run Vodacom? They are sitting in front of a PC while they calmly respond to outright rude comments on these forums. Rather appreciate the service they are giving us here (which works better then the service you get from phoning customer service) and be respectful. I can't help but think that alot of people on here really need to learn some manners.

"Either way, Vodacom is breaking the law, but please correct me if I am wrong."

I am not even going to bother.

Juggernaut, if you or anyone else are thinking that I am attacking VD, then you are wrong. Let me make this very clear: I am criticizing Vodacom, not VD. And generally I think Vodacom is a good company. Just the fact that they are paying and authorizing someone to answer questions, in public, already says a lot.

As for my argument that Vodacom might be breaking the law, you can laugh it off, but until someone comes up with a counter argument, it stands.

VodacomData,

While I appreciate your effort to shed some light on this matter, your rather terse answers make it difficult to figure out what you are trying to say.

In response to the question "why STOP messages do not work" you said "There are different WASP that sends these messages". So now we know it is "WASP"s that are sending these SPAM messages on behalf of Vodacom, and if you tell one WASP to STOP, it does not mean that the other WASPs are going to stop. Now I do not know exactly what a WASP is, but from a legal point of view all that matters is whether they are 1) part of Vodacom or 2) separate legal entities from Vodacom.

If these WASPs are part of the same legal entity that is Vodacom, then all WASPs must respect a user's request to stop spamming. Failure to do that would be a violation of section 45(4) of Electronic
Communications and Transactions Act (Act 25 of 2002).

If on the other hand these WASPs are separate legal entities, then it would be a violation for Vodacom to give them the contact details of customers in terms of the privacy laws that you mentioned.

Either way, Vodacom is breaking the law, but please correct me if I am wrong.

I refer to my comment in http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=183890&page=2 . I agree, credit to Vodacom for using these opportunities to improve their customer service - however - why don't we get the same level of service following the official channel ?

A lot of the posts on the site are made in frustration. Yes and a lot of them are rude - some are uneducated others are just plain stupid - bur who is the judge of that... What is rude is any supplier taking money from customers and not providing the expected service.

When a supplier chooses to use a public and free forum to resolve issues then it must take the good with the bad. What I am wondering is VodacomData an individual or is it a group of Vodacom employees that monitor the site ? - Regardless - "you" are Vodacom's representative - i.e. the organisation - on the site - so your feelings should not be hurt - you cannot hurt an organisations feelings - can you? Since you (or the many you's) are not known to the general user base please don't assume that anybody is insulting or rude to an individual but rather the company

Thus "terse" replies are not professional and are indeed not very customer service orientated.

Nevertheless it certainly does seem that "you" do resolve a lot of the issues - which we can expect - since it is your job - and Vodacom would be rather stupid if they let a forum like this run away like a wild fire

Hey Pierre

We just getting started am not going anywhere soon :D , i monitor the site alone which can be a tedious task at times mainly keeping track of all the Pm`s(600 and counting) and trying to answer to the best of my ability.

This is a data forum but the queries i get far exceed that i.e wasp video calling , am having to do my own investigations to try and resolve these queries as some of them fall out of my scope(i like the investigation part :D) but strive to get you an answer

With that said am to be used as a last resort if you fail with 155. :p
