I really enjoy the story and and characters...though the death of the gay one by the hands of a demon born out of a ginger vagina left a very bitter taste.

I am really enjoying the gay characters in Spartacus. It was so sad when Barca watched his lover being killed in the arena. Heartbreaking.

Excellent series though, I'm on season 2... when does the flashback end? I'm getting over it.

The way I understand it...the flashback series of where the stadium is still being built is not actually a series. It was a mini series. Season two follows after that. The reason why is cause the actor playing Spartacus was fighting cancer and eventually lost the battle....hence you will have another face playing Spartacus in Season 2.

@Shaun....this is Auctus. Barca's lover. I personally think he is the best looking one ... but he is only in the mini series and does not play a big role unfortunately.

One of the most amazing series ever made? It took a good looking man for you to actually give this series a watch?

Wow i guess some people want story line, action, bit of sexual stuff and others just want sexual stuff :p, wait isn't that what porn is for? :p
 
Meh, I've delayed the watching of S2 as I really got sold on Andy as Spartacus.
While watching S1 (beginning of June) I Googled the series to see how many seasons I could look forward to, only to read that he had died. I have been watching Gods of the arena though, as that is more a prequel.

How does the new fella compare to the original Spartacus?

The transition at first is kinda hmmm but the guy fits the role within the first two episodes. From there it's nothing more than action, sex and blood. Fking amazing and you should just go with the flow, he fits in almost instantly as the story, blood and sex make you forget what the old guy even looked like.

It's a relief as this is one series where I've actually really "bonded" with the characters. The way the betrayal is shown and how the people are used..... and the vengeance they ultimately seek..... brilliant!!

I like the whole package...as I am sure Shaun will to. What is nice about Spartacus is that there are characters that we can ... mmmmm... not relate to .... but can kind of identify with also. You wont know I am sure...but for us...it does make a big difference.

Dude everything about the series be it gay or straight people who love the series can related to everything. There is no time to wonder if you can relate to anyone, you just are mind blown at the pace of the series and story line just keeps you wanting more and more and more and more. There are gay lovers for most of the series but that should not be reason people watch a series, if it draws the gay crowd because gay scenes are something amazing then sure but it's just gay scenes in a series. Really not something i think people even have time think about. Who cares if the scenes are gay straight and who can relate to what.

Fast paced, mind blowing action scenes, sexual scenes that are also pretty amazing. Leaves you almost breathless and wanting more. Sadly no more :(, heard a 300 series is being spoken about though, no idea if the gay people can relate it to yet :p

You are over thinking what I mean. All I am saying is it makes a series even more enjoyable for us if there are gay characters in it that we can root for. Agron is a nice example....and from what I read he is in S3 also..so unlike most gay characters does not suffer a quick death.

I kept going though (mostly to see if there are any nice hairy men in the nude scenes) and I ended up really getting into it. It took me like 7 episodes though. I am glad I pushed through. I am now on E6 of S2. I need to get the remaining episodes and S3 somewhere still :-(

Most people who took the first few episodes at face value and abandoned it (like me) don't know what they're missing out on. Thankfully I was persuaded to start watching again and I'm so glad I did, the plotting, character arcs and acting (mostly) are brilliant.

It's as similar to GoT as it is dissimilar. Politics, revenge, love, the themes are the same, but played out so differently. You can compare them to one another, but I just prefer to watch and love them both.

Yeah, he's in Season 3. What I appreciate about that particular aspect of the show, is that they don't display gay love as being different to straight love. All the story seems to care about conveying is that these two people are in love, and the constant danger that they're in could make for a devastating end to a love story.

I also dig that they don't paint most of the characters as being 100% good or bad. Everyone has their flaws and redeeming characteristics.

Well i was routing for him and thought he was one of the best characters, what does that mean? Surely i should have been routing for straight people only. Well i don't really think like that so i really don't understand this connecting with characters because they are gay. Nor do i grasp why rooting for someone is based on their sexual orientation.

Anyways it's chilled if gay people need gay stuff in series to connect and feel at home i guess that is something i will never grasp so let's leave it at that. Don't want a whole debate on the topic, i will just accept i don't get it because i am straight.
