SPCA: Highway giraffe has died

They must've used a cheap transporter not one of those "Abnormal Cargo" transporters,
As those abnormal transporters map out a route first, to avoid and roads with bridges etc...

Stupid people!

The two animals where transported in an open trailer when the one hit its head against the Garsfontein over bridge on the N1 highway. Transportation of animals on an open trailer is in contravention with the regulations of transporting animals.

If I had stopped this driver and beat this driver around a bit and someone had videotaped me giving him a few klappe and put it on youtube, would I have been criticised for it on here?

No. You would get a bottle of Bells. :D

Pity I was at work in Sandton and not driving around.

Someone said they saw a metrocop on bike pull them over at some stage. Wonder what happened with that?

So I wonder about the other bridges...

Pondering the bridges and thinking about my perceptions of them, if think that bridge always "felt" lower than the others, like say against the Olifantfontein bridge on the R21, but it could just have been that the animals moved into a higher stance since that part would have been the biggest downhill they would have experienced.

:( I saw them yesterday just before the Jean off ramp Centurion heading north, they were parked at the side of the highway both were still alive.

Poor baby, one of the witnesses who passed them said he had hit the crown of his head and he was bleeding from the nose. I was so upset I couldn't sleep last night.

Was on the N1 North, I think it was just before the Jean ave bridge.

Oh, you mean the highway under Jean Ave between Jonh Vorster Dr and Botha Ave?

That's means they took the N3 and N1 probably and went through Midrand. Then JMPD and EMPD probably have to get asked a few Qs too.

This is just so incredibly sad and tragic..all the more so for the sheer stupidity of it all..I cannot fathom how anyone could be so thick!! And naturally, nothing will come of it! :(

I wonder why the people driving near the transporter didn't do anything.

What, try to pull over a truck? They might think you are trying a hijack trick (you have no idea how many trucks get hijacked or attempted a day). We have JMPD, EMPD, TMPD an GTP for a reason, but they don't seem to do their jobs much except sitting behind speed detectors.
