Awwww pappa! I am just heartbroken over this! :(

I saw Gifraffe for the first time in my life last year I think it was when we went to a game lodge. They are such gentle and majestic animals. We got really close to two of them while they were munching on a tree. They just truned their heads and looked at us when we parked and then continued munching :-) Would have loved to touch them but of course you cant do that.

Puts the world's tallest animal on the back of a truck, doesn't check the route and verify the clearance of any overpasses they may encounter. That is a bloody stupid mistake to make. I'm surprised they know how to breathe.

These things are dangerous man, don't be fooled. I have seen a car where the giraffe had hit its horns through a car door. They will kill you with one hit for sure. They are however not agressive, unless it's mating season. I also saw one falling down while trying to mount a female in the KNP :D The sound when they fall is intense. It's like a tree falling over after being cut. Whooos and then THUMP!. lol

Eh? You're charged with transporting extraordinary cargo, which is visibly higher than the truck, then make a 'moronic' mistake like not planning properly?? Unforgivable!
 
Speaking of, what happened to the driver that caused the great N1 congestion of 2013?
 
NSPCA CONSIDERS CHARGING GIRAFFE DRIVER

The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NSPCA) is considering laying charges against the driver transporting the giraffe that died in Gauteng on Thursday.

"At this stage we are still investigating and considering charges in terms of the Animal Protection Act," Tshwane SPCA managing director Rick Allan said on Friday.

The NSPCA was looking into the manner in which the animal was transported.

"We believe the method in which the animal was transported was not correct. The death of the animal could have been avoided."

The giraffe died on Thursday after it hit its head while being transported, along with another giraffe, on a truck on the N1 in Centurion.

At the time, Allan said it died due to trauma to the head.

It was not clear what hit the giraffe's head.

"The head of the giraffe was above the vehicle."

Members of the public alerted the NSPCA about two giraffes being transported in a truck.

Exactly. All the tweets I've seen on news24 are from concerned citizens. Any one of the could have stopped that truck and phone the authorities.

Sad day when people think the next person will stop it.

Any one could have jumped out of their car on the highway and stopped the truck.. okay.

In related news last night on my way back from the airport a crazy woman stopped on the left hand side of the highway. She ran over to the right side then ran back into the middle of the highway trying to flag people down. Her car was fine and there was nobody else around.

I didn't stop.

Now you tell me again that anybody could have pulled the truck over when a whole highway doesn't stop for a crazy women?
