Incredible Connection has a bit of a (deserved) reputation, but they've got a great special on now for BitDefender Internet Security: a 1-year, 1-device license for only R50 (a saving of R250).

I picked up two for my wife and myself, and the licence codes worked fine :)

People still pay for antivirus software for private use?

The free Windows Defender did a better job at picking up memory stick viruses than both BitDefender and McAfee.

MSE + common sense

I'm not sure you can trust Microsoft to be quite as proactive with their virus definitions and firewall protection as dedicated companies with this as their core focus.

As for common sense, raise your hand if you've never taken a deliberate risk and thought 'I hope this doesn't backfire on me' (e.g. downloading from an unknown website). At times like that, a little extra backup doesn't hurt.

Well...impossible to argue with that

Switching to Linux isn't going to stop you from being retarded mate.

I dropped MSE, sat idle on my PC for 4 months then decided "WOAH YOU HAVE CRACKS ALL OVER THE PLACES!!! QUARANTINE NOW!!!".

That sucks

If you're downloading from a dodgy source, you're asking for it.

This.

It's not hard to avoid "Free youtube downloader HD.exe" and it's also not hard to check comments on torrents.
Need a thread for common apps for various tasks so people avoid downloading ****e.
