I got 10MB / 5MB - but its slow. I was advised rather get 4MB / 2MB premium. I did.
I test my speed, it's 4.1MBps down and 2.77MB up - looks good.
So I download a 4,4MB program - should take 1,1 seconds or thereabouts, right?
No, 13 minutes at 11KB per second! Why?

I'm guessing you are using Openserve 10Mbps fibre with either Axxess,Afrihiost or Webafrica?

Just change providers.

Because this is Africa... and they will sell you X and deliver Y, and you must STFU and accept it.

This
No. Megabits or Mbps is not the same as Megabytes or MB/s

a 4.4 Megabyte file should take around 9- 10 seconds to download on a 4 Megabit line.

1) 4.1Mbps should give you about 0.5MB/s download speed
2) The source is key.

If you've downloaded from one of those file hosting sites that require you to go premium to unlock high download speeds, you will get that 11KB/s no matter what.

As the person above mentioned: it could be the source you're downloading from that can't deliver more than 11KB/s to you. Try downloading the same program via a different internet provider and compare the speeds.
