My ISP (Wazzup/Cybersmart) seems to be blocking Speedtest.net.

It gets to the 100% window prior to the test and then stops.

A sure sign of trouble when even speedtest fails to load. (I've tried it with 4 different browsers)

According to them, "speedtest is down for everyone and Vodacom are having trouble". Can anyone else test for me and confirm please?

Cybersmart = broken... stuck @ 100%

Afrihost = working fine.

i just did the neotel speedtest which told me

Download Speed: 392 kbps (49 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 96 kbps (12 KB/sec transfer rate)

Yet I've been downloading 6mb worth of email since this morning!

Hmmmm, sillybillieswithwillies, 6Mb of e-mail => amount of data downloaded & has nothing to do with the line speed test...

A line speed test downloading a test file from 1 data center MAY give different results to a real-world use ie. an email from your carrier
Benchmarks are an attempt at a best-case-scenario for comparison purposes,not a diagnostic tool for nondescript issues that could vary in reason

sillybillieswithwillies, you said that you've downloaded 6Mb of e-mail since this morning. This I understand to be that the e-mail you've downloaded from this morning to this afternoon was a total of 6Mb. Not that you have a linespeed of 6Mb. I assume this as the speedtest reports that your current line speed is running @ 392 kbps. If however, you have a 10Mb ADSL connection & you normally download @ 6Mb and not 49K, this is then a different story all together.

Actually what I meant is that I have 6mb of emails (about 40) being downloaded, and since this morning less than 1mb has come through. My point was that neotel.speedtest had given me an extraordinarily high result which contradicts anecdotal evidence (like watching my emails send & receive all day)

Lol that must burn lounger :D

Is it working yet on Cybersmart? I can access it from my phone on the Vodacom network too.
It's frustrating, especially when Wazzup says it's Vodacom's fault.

Hey all

Any resolution to this Cybersmart / speedtest.net blockage yet ?

Still cannot run a speedtest on Cybersmart (or actually browse or anything really... slower than dial-up in a thunderstorm during a volcanic eruption in an earthquake aftershock)... yet on Afrihost all is fine ?

Hi, I am not with wazzup, but with Cybersmart - oneprice with ADSL line as well.

Usually they have been more than OK... in the past there have been recorded messages and entries on their support page if there were issues.

This time nada.

It is completely frustratingly annoying... to witness only Cybersmart account borking like this and then to be told by their helpdesk that there is nothing wrong their side.

grrr.pffffft.

Does wazzup even know that there is a problem?

Yeah all my other accounts work perfectly. On Cybersmart I'm unable to use Twitter properly, having to reload tweets, followers etc is just annoying.
