FYI: Just got my MBP back from Core Repair Centre in Jet Park.
They have replaced the top panel and it seems good as new. Luckily, my insurance came to the party as well.
Morne at Core was excellent in helping facilitate this as well, so thankfully, no complaints this time.

The best think to do when something like this happens is to remove all power from the unit... including the battery.

So what happened to "it just works"? The battery is supposed to remove itself in case of spillage .
