Spore has landed...

I got the game on Saturday and not that impressed!
Cell stge and space stage is awesome, the rest is merely a filler!
However, what I hate is that no matter how bizarre your creature looks, it will survive and flourish.

even if you just add on eye to a big blob of goo?

Knew it .......... (/me is chuffed that /me went with instincts and did not buy into the hype)

i think i'm still gonna buy it - and the galactic uber edition infact.

Look - it is worth a buy!
The cell stage is fantastic but the rest is merely there to get you to space stage.
I feel that the game really shines in space stage, where you have access to an entire galaxy wher you can randomly abduct creatures and take them to other planets and dump them there.

As for the creature itself, I am going to create one tonight as a blob, with sight, a mouth but no arms or legs but still use, charm, pose, bite add-ons etc. to see if the creature itself (physically) has any impact on the success of your species.
Will let you guys know in the morning. ;)

Thanks, think this will be a decider for alot of us

mebbe a bargain bin purchase (or a 2nd hand one from some p*ssed off buyer :p)

AFAIK there is already 1 or 2 p*ssed of buyers, and 1 wanted to sell his for R100.

LOL

This really makes me think of a very old game - Star Control 2. Was excellent in that you could explore a vast galaxy, scour planets for resources and build your ship(s).

Cool (Ho)Kage, good idea, will be waiting.
mmm since my 2GB cap magically disappeared for the month I'll use my local to download it and try it out.

@Keeper and Meph
I think Kage is one... I think I'm already undergoing a deal with him.

Mornin'

So I played the game last night as advised, no arms or legs, jsut a mout and the usual ad ons for charm, charge etc.

A c reature in the Creature Stage should be able to function, but there are some complications, and it frustrated me to no end, so I did not get to Tribal stage, that is for tonight.
A couple of things:
- No arms, means no hands etc and this leads to no posing or additional striking points.
- No Legs means that you are not able to get past the Cell Stage, yes that is right.
For some reason the lack of legs mean you have not "evolved" yet, so your special ability is locked. No legs also means, no dancing (no feet, paws or suckers) and the legs does seem to affect the speed through the length of the strides.

Allying new species to you is a lot more difficult due to tha lack of hands and feet and killing creatures is also a lot more difficult due to the lack of legs (lack of speed) you cant run away as normal, god never died so much.

So, it seems that the game forces you to ad legs and arms to evolve (special ability) and the lack of the above mentioned appendages does seem to affect the success of your species.

Hope this helps.

A tip for those that are thinking of buying the game:
This is the kind of game that you have installed on your pc for when your other games are tiresome and boring or you are waiting for the next game, nothing more and nothing less.

7/10

I downloaded this game and i could not agree more with kage when it comes to buying this game.

oi,, you all pirating it?! Is there anyone with legit copy? I wanna add some friends in the game. (add me, xybedout)

This game could actually be quite cool on console. Lay back on couch and constrol it with gamepad. Only stages that might be bit difficult are the tribal and civ stages and making the creature/vehicle/etc creators easy to use with gamepad. I'm sure PS3 and 360 can handle the kinda graphics being pushed by this game if you look at some of the other titles available. Guess the other problem would be logistics around PSN and Life and sharing content created by PC players and console players. As a casual kinda layback game it could sell pretty well, which I'm sure its doing on PC anycase even with the stupid DRM.

I don't have a problem with DRM, i wanna know if the game is worth the cash?
