Springboks EOYT 2012

Bit late but anyway.

JC Janse van Rensburg called up to replace injured CJ van der Linde.

CJ should never have been there at the expense of JC who had a cracker of a Currie Cup and showed he is a natural leader. Always feel you can't have too many leaders in a team to keep everybody calm and focused.

Van Der Linde isn't worthy enough to wear a Spingbok jersey. He is a cynical thug.

Eben not guilty!

Eben Etzebeth has been found not guilty of eye gouging and is free to play against England on Saturday.

Lock Etzebeth was cited on Monday by Alan Mansell of England under Law 10.4 (m) for ‘making contact with the eye(s) or eye area’ of flyhalf Greig Laidlaw in the 54th minute of the Springboks’ 21-10 win over Scotland last Saturday.

Irish IRB judicial officer David Martin ruled that the contact in the area of the Scotland player’s eyes was accidental, and as such did not constitute foul play.

This was the 21-year-old’s second disciplinary hearing after being found guilty for an attempted head-butt on Wallabies lock Nathan Sharpe during the Rugby Championship.

Flip is another 1. Twice in not as many matches, but he comes on for like 5 minutes and gets a yellow. Is he really that good ?

I feel for flip as he cleaned up his act (I hated him for most of his career) and showed he is a good player in the test against the ABs where he outplayed almost all of the forwards, but this weekend past he got a bit unlucky by getting the yellow card after repeated offences at the breakdown....

I do however agree that you can not have someone in the team that gets a card every third matc so he will need to work harder on being sneakier if not smarter :D

The Springbok team to face England in London is:

15. Zane Kirchner (Vodacom Blue Bulls) 23 caps
14. JP Pietersen (The Sharks) 47 caps
13. Juan de Jongh (DHL Western Province) 13 caps
12. Jean de Villiers (captain, DHL Western Province) 83 caps
11. Francois Hougaard (Vodacom Blue Bulls) 26 caps
10. Pat Lambie (The Sharks) 19 caps
9. Ruan Pienaar (Ulster, Northern Ireland) 62 caps
8. Duane Vermeulen (DHL Western Province) 6 caps
7. Willem Alberts (The Sharks) 19 caps
6. Francois Louw (Bath, England) 16 caps
5. Juandré Kruger (Vodacom Blue Bulls) 7 caps
4. Eben Etzebeth (DHL Western Province) 10 caps
3. Jannie du Plessis (The Sharks) 41 caps
2. Adriaan Strauss (vice-captain, Toyota FS Cheetahs) 20 caps
1. Gurthrö Steenkamp (Toulouse, France) 39 caps

Replacements

16. Schalk Brits (Saracens, England) 4 caps
17. Heinke van der Merwe (Leinster, Ireland) 3 caps
18. Pat Cilliers (DHL Western Province) 5 caps
19. Flip van der Merwe (Vodacom Blue Bulls) 22 caps
20. Marcell Coetzee (The Sharks) 11 caps
21. Elton Jantjies (MTN Golden Lions) 2 caps
22. Jaco Taute (MTN Golden Lions) 3 caps
23. Lwazi Mvovo (The Sharks) 7 caps

JdJ a second crack?

MS completely out of it, this should get a few people excited, just scared HM is setting up Lambie and Jantjies up for a fall if things go pear shaped. . . .

Then the only change is CJ being replaced.

Go boks

Flip's card was harsh as he was the final straw aftr numerous penalties up front.

/Waits for the haters...

Nope. No hating here.

I like Kirchner and Gurtho.

Love Juandre.

And the only problem I have with Hougaard is that I don't think he is a specialist wing and I would rather play him off the bench to make a big impact.

Flip is a workhorse and a great player but also a walking yellow card.

Looks like there are no haters here!

You know, I have always preferred pessimism over optimism. Optimists set themselves up for disappointment while pessimists are always pleasantly surprised. As am I, today...

Let's see how it goes tomorrow.

Is it just me or has Matfield's English improved a lot?

It is raining so Lambie won't be doing the free running thing, should still be entertaining though.

4-1 the penalty count. Nigel going to blow the crap out of us today. How many yellows do you think he will issue today? Minimum 1....
