Springboks vs Australia teams

Tassidar, just on Steyn's speed, I really don't consider him slow by any stretch of the imagination. As wings go he isnot fast, but he is fine for full back or center.
Trouble is he does not want to play full back at all, his own choice apparently not too.

As long as teams like the Stormers have players like Bobo in their backline, everyone else on the rugby field is a world class sprinter, cause Bobo is so slow he is pedestrian at best, and do not ask him to turn and chase.

But if Jaque Fourie comes back in, then I reckon Steyn gets pushed out of the Centre.
James will stay no10, as he is very consistent, and has matured very nicely while at Bath. (Personally, I would like to see Andre Pretorius there, when he finally gets over his latest injury, but thats opinion)

I am a fan of Janjtes, but think that Frans Steyn should be in the starting line-up, as he is very talented. Although Steyn does not want to be a Full-Back, with his boot and rugby knowledge, I think he could be one of the better full-backs actually. Put Jantjes on the wing. There, his boot will make the back three very solid.

Scrum half will always be Du Preez, Bolla and Ricky are not quite at his level (yet).

I like the new philosiphy we got to spread the ball, makes a welcome change, as we actually have dangerous outside backs, with skill and speed.

But I'm not convinced with Peter's coaching style here. The flip-flopping selection is worrying, and could backfire as the combinations don't get proper time to mature together. If someone is the best, play him. Dont swap him one week, leave him out of the 22 the next. Come now.

Kris PDV said Spies was always going to play against the aussies, it seems this flip flopping selection of his, which I am also not a fan of, is based on some kind of insight and knowledge. As long as he is winning he can field the netball team for all I care hehe.
If each pplayer brings something different I suppose it keep the opposition guessing and if our team is happy with the selection methodology then I suppose it is win win.

On J Fourie and the other injured Boks like Fourie Du Preez, they are going to find it difficult to get back into the main team.
At the moment, the Boks are on a high and injury will be the only real reason to change the squad as such.

interesting times and good times to be a Bok fan!!!

Oh my word thats hilarious :D

The squad is in a good place yeah, but Jaque and Fourie are class. And their talent and experience will make it hard to justify leaving them out.

I also read that he was planning Spies the whole time for the Aussie match, but what grates my cheese, is that Big Joe had two good games, and was kinda looking like his old self, now he doesnt even make the bench? I dont care how much you hear about the plans and playing fields and different opponents, this does not help any one's confidence. We have all been in a team situation. If you get left out, you feel demorilized.

I'm sorry, i cant watch anymore, we are playing like crap!!

I'm sorry, but the aim of the game is to actually keep the ball, and not just hand it to them

too many basic errors from us. we actually did similar last week but managed to get away with it. doubt we will today.

Schollboy sh*t this man  ....... and Januarie has been now been proven to be just a flash in the pan .... same with Spies

Living in a dream buddy, ,so far the only defense has been spies, strange that ****o, uhm I mean kanko is on the field isn't he bleeding somewhere again

Matfield when asked what went wrong - "I dunno, we'll have to see on the video" ..... are you fscking kidding me ..... are you that fscking doff

and as for that ref (as usual) .... someone needs to find his balls for him .... timid little fsck.

That man is just useless this year, seriously, he sucks. He keeps on losing the ball, he is pathetic in the line outs, and is dismal as a captain.

Why did they take schalk brits off?

and apparently Grant was on the field  ............ the phrase 'was he really' springs to mind. The sh*t thing is, nobody was really bad today ... it was totally the game plan IMO ... for some reason the guys have been told to not commit to the breakdown and we're getting hammered there. Why not have a change in gameplan ffs

And losing the ball???!!! What the hell were they doing, as soon as we touched the ball there was a 90% chance they would take it from us

I'm just glad I reserved my opinion of the new coach until after the whole Tri-Nations ...... one win in NZ is not gonna cut it .... /me wants the trophy because we're world champs ffs.

Steyn should play in every test.
Most teams do not want to kick the ball out against SA because of our superiority in the line outs.
They kick it deep knowing we will kick it back.
If you have Steyn in your team, any ball taken in the other half at the 10 meter line is potential 3 points through drop kick.
The man has a hoof on him of note!
It forces the opponents to consider kicking out.
Steyn is a great rugby player. He is young and has the physique of the perfect rugby player. I find him to be a bit of a butter fingers. They should find him a position in the team, like 8th man or whatever and leave him there to blossom. Could do with a haircut though.

As far as kicking goes. I find that The Springboks only once under pressure like today's game against Australia in the last few minutes of the game decide to keep the ball tight and not kick. I still think if the Springboks had to adopt this attitude right from the beginning of the game and keep the ball close than constantly kicking the ball into the opponents hands we would do far better.

What's happened to Habana? His game is starting to deteriorate.

the fact that Percy did not play and Mr I-can't-defend-and-all-I-do-is-kick-the-ball-away did boggles my frikkin mind. Oh and Britz ..... nothing special there .......

The problem with Habana is that he is watched like a hawk, everyone knows of his speed and the keep him on the back foot, and our problem is, without habana we seem to be lacking in any constructive plan what so ever.

I cant blame the couch, except for making matfield the captain, seriously that man cannot manage his way out of a paper bag
