Springboks vs. Fiji

you dont watch a lot of rugby do you? They said the Frogs would beat Argentina in the opening game as well. Duh.

Thats exactly why I never believe in such critics or experts of the game! I did expect an upset after watching the first 10 minutes of the game. Lets see if this weekend will provide such exciting games too!

My predictions for the weekend are:-

Australia v England - can't decide
New Zealand v France - France
South Africa v Fiji - Bokke
Argentina v Scotland - Argentina

why you guys bringing up the tonga game

this is quarter finals, u field your strongest team no matter what

our strongest team will crush theirs, end of story

england loose badly
france get mauled
fiji get owned
scotland beat argentina

Scotland are gonna get pomped by Argentina.

Would love to see the French whip NZ, highly unlikely although they have improved as the tournament has gone on.
Eng vs Aus. Australia have no scrum to speak of, so if England keep it tight they definitely have a chance. The poms have a fairly formidable pack.
The Aussies I think will try an take advantage of their strong runners and hit the gaps hard in the back but traditional games of rugby are won upfront in most cases.
England need to make 100% sure of all their touch kicks, cant afford to have the Aussies running back at them in loose play.

We should breeze Fiji (crosses all fingers and toes :D)

England better take a deep breath when they get bent over on Saturday because the Aussies are gonna slip one past their heart

Based on what at this WC do you think that it's "highly unlikely" that the French beat the AB's?

In my book, France are favorites in that match.

The Ab's don't even know yet what their best side is, never mind the fact that they haven't been tested yet! ;)

France is one of the best teams in the world when it comes to flair.

On one day they can beat the best in the world by record margins... And the next they lose by record margins. It's all about the flair on that day. I personaly hope the All Blacks win. The French are to unpredictable.

Would be nice to see a Aussie AB Semi final also :D

Guys I'm nervious about the match tomorrow... I have a very very very bad feeling

SA play on sunday dont they? 15:00

and all this giberish in the thread is starting to make me nervious!!

Admire your optimism re the French:D

All Blacks on past form leading up to the WC have to be the best side. Throw into that the woeful state of Rugby in the Northern Hemisphere in general which has been highlighted during the prelims of this WC and I reckon any team the AB's put together 'should' deal with France fairly comfortably.

If I were a betting man it would be foolish to discount the AB's ability and elevate France above them just because they (the AB's) have not been tested in this tournament as such. They are a very powerful and well balanced side and on top of the world rankings for good reason.

That said the AB's are not invincible, 1st playing 5th in world rankings, hope France win, just doubt it very much is all.

Viva le frenchies :D

I predict Southern Hemisphere semi-finals. Surely then the Quad-nations/Four-nations rugby tournament would be on (bring in the Argies, the French Nemisis 4/5). Maybe where the last place is relegated the following year. Im sure Fiji, Samoa, Tonga and off course the Argies will like it.

CJ out of quarterfinal

CJ out of quarterfinal

So Jannie du Plessis will start in the No3 jersey, with the bench reverting to a four/three split between backs and forwards. Andre Pretorius, who would have dropped out had Van der Linde been declared fit, will sit on the bench.

Butch will keep Boks on track

It is Butch James though who will be wearing No10 on Sunday, and he has travelled a long way since this time last year, when he was at best only back-up to Pretorius. He required a big game against England at Twickenham last November to save his career, but James has been on the up ever since, and just lately his play in the pivot position has bordered on the sublime.

I did also say that the AB's are not invincible :o
No boet, you called it spot on, well done! ;)
Really, I did not think the Frogs had it in themselves, especially playing 'away' as such.
All Blacks were very poor on the day and the credit must go to France for not allowing them to get into their stride.
What a world cup, waiter one big piece of humble pie please :D
