Anyone used this business in Cape Town? They have good reviews on Google, but months after them repairing my car I think I got fleeced.
Several months ago I took my car into Springfield as there was a rattling under the bonnet. I found this Springfield business that took a look at my car and said they could replace the water pump while I wait. Took them a couple of hours, and when they gave the car back, the mechanic said that my timing chain is noisy and will need to be replaced soon, so ever since having the water pump replaced, I thought the continued soft rattling has been my timing chain.
Today I had my car serviced with Autoworks and they took the serpentine belt off the motor and it was running as quiet as anything, so not a noisy timing chain. They said it's your water pump that's noisy.
Autoworks raised their eyebrows when I said the other place replaced the water pump in two hours while I waited. So I'm now thinking that Springfield did all they could to grease, lube, and quieten down the water pump, charged R2500 for it, but never actually replaced anything, and told me the new noise was from the timing chain.
The water pump job is out of warranty, so am I SOL with regards to approaching them for some kind of refund, as it's very likely they never replaced the pump at all.
