Spur Incident

She's already made it clear that she thought it was a racist attack on her, so instead of doing the right thing and saying she'll have a talk with her kid, she told him to "fek off". What kind of mother does that?

Your username is appropriate btw.

We are not talking about what she believed the attack to be based on, try to keep up. We are assigning blame here and if you haven't caught onto what it is that we've been saying, I'd recommend the brain development exercises to you too.

Once again these lies about it being a fact that this hooligan approached her civilly and she immediately went off at him and swore, these are not facts. Sorry but they aren't. The only hard evidence we have are the two videos released and I can only imagine the false, summary truths you would have drawn had there not been so much video evidence.

Watch the video closely. When did she get really pissed off? When he laid a hand on her kid and made that threatening move as if he were going to slap her. He escalated the situation. Not her.

As I said, this thread mirrors what happened in the media and social media. Choose your platform, this incident received far more playtime than the other two I mentioned. Be that myBB, 702, Facebook, Twitter or printed media, people lost their minds over this and it is quite obvious as to why.

We are not discussing those other incidents and which got more airtime. If this is your last hope of rescuing your idiotic defense of this man, I've overestimated your level of intelligence and that wasn't even average to begin with.

The debate at hand is not whether this was an incident based on racism. The issue is that many on this forum will not assign blame to a man who clearly was in the wrong. From fabricating false narratives of him being oh so polite and civil when initially approaching this woman (based on an account from his friend and totally contrary to the hard, video evidence available) to placing the blame on the woman for "egging him on" even in the light of clear evidence that he grabbed her god child in a violent manner, threatened to hit her by way of physical and verbal intimidation and caused a table full of kids to start crying when he lifted their table.

The issue here is the lack of assigning blame and accountability to this man and deflecting with every poor excuse in the book, all based on bias.

There is no evidence that this was a race based attack and I never insinuated this, heck most people advocating that the man is a violent imbecile are not. The only people who keep bringing up race ironically are the people defending this man. Which leads to other questions as to where their bias is entrenched.

100% agreed.

I'm not defending the dude. And it's maddening how many people have to tell you the same yet it still passes straight through your skull because of some hero syndrome you have going on at the moment. You simply struggle to have any form of reason because of a serious emotional involvement in a incident which has nothing to do with you. Then keep this dead piece of shyte thread alive by arguing how everyone is against your point of view.

You have a simple choice in not clicking on this thread, I suggest you exercise that choice then.

No emotional attachment to this, at first before the first video came out (where he assaulted her kid) I categorically stated that they were both at fault.

Unlike you though, I looked at the new, hard video evidence and concluded that he took this situation to where it went by assaulting her god child. Now if you don't understand that, feel free to join the brain development exercises I suggested to the other posters. You'll have a full class in no time at the rate that we're going.

What do you hope to gain by demonizing this man? You go on about bias...maybe look in the mirror.

I'm not for a single second saying that didn't... What I am saying is neither party is blameless in the way the whole incident played out... They both behaved like children

Then my initial response stands.

You do not simply flick a "calm down" switch after you AND your child have been physically threatened.

I have no interest in demonizing anyone. Are you truly incapable of separating issues? I really am not here to teach you English comprehension or how to think like an intelligent human being, you don't get it? Go on to the brain dev 101 class which is filling up really fast.

You don't just flick a "calm down switch" after a big grown a$$ man handles your kid in a threatening way.

Ja, but imagine that was a Big man he was having a go at, and not a woman. would have handled it differently, would he have grabbed the kid like that? Again, its okay to defend your kids, but these things happen alot between kids. Later on, the kids go and play together again, and so it goes. As i said right at the start, both adults are to blame here, because the environment that they were in, did not call for that behaviour with so many kids around to witness it. The language, the threatening behaviour, i mean cmon, these are adults, and this is how they show the kids its done? They are arguing over a fighting incident, and then ironically the 2 engage in a fighting (so called) incident. Its all madness.

I overheard a white "gentleman" on Friday getting all worked up about this incident.

Heard him go as far as saying "I would have klapped her, I would have. I won't punch a lady or anything but I have no problem klapping her"

Unfortuantely I was in a rush for Moqsue but I would have loved to ask him "even if it was a white woman"
Or forget about colour, would he have klapped if it was a male of any colour?

Maybe he was not a racist, maybe he just wasn't a man.

Nope, not buying it tbh... There is an aspect of "adulting" that needs to be applied in my opinion. When he walks away you just leave it, especially since he's quite a large guy. As upset or angry as I would have been in that situation I would have left it at that point.

So when human rights are established, we don't add "if he happens to be a big guy" or "if he looks crazy" as an appendage. Your rights are not determined by these factors and that is the point. We are not determining whether she sized up the situation correctly. We are ascertaining who the aggressor and perpetrator was in this case and who was wrong and who took this situation to the level it got to.

That's the point of having laws, we give each human being rights and responsibilities, irrespective of age, gender, colour or creed. We don't add factors such as the ones you've added in for the simple reason that laws would not work in that case.

Its not about rights or laws or anything, its about being a damn adult ffs.

BOTH parties are to blame for the situation escalating the way it did. He started it, and she continued with the screaming and ranting and he raised to the provocation. Its not bloody rocket science.

Agreed.

If I ever find myself in such a situation I hope I will react in the manner you describe above, that would be the ideal reaction.

But I can understand where the lady is coming from although I might not agree 100% with how she handled it.

You men just don't get it do you. You don't get how it feels to be threatened by a man. How threatening a man can be. And the issue every MAN commenting on this has is with her not being sufficiently submissive. She shouldn't have said ... She should have ... it all reflects on your attitudes as a man towards an 'uppity' woman who doesn't know when to be quiet because the MAN is talking.

You have no idea how she felt with a VERY LARGE man leaning over into her space, speaking in a threatening manner - at first in that patient TONE abusive angry men get when they are talking to a woman - and then escalating through finger pointing, rising anger, grabbing her kid, walking away aggressively and then turning back and shaking the table - its frightening even to watch.

For me, I don't agree with her language, but at the same time kudos to her for not backing and being submissive in the face of his aggression even if she was terrified. And she has said she was terrified. And her kids were terrified. As they should be. With that huge man behaving like that.

And we wonder why South Africa has one of the highest rates of violence towards women and children.

But I am, because you said if it was white on white it would've received the same attention, which is nonsense, because a white woman was threatened by two white men, one of whom was wielding an ax, and that ended up being a non-story.

As for me defending the guy, perhaps read before questioning my intelligence?

The guy at Spur was a tosser, the woman's behaviour can be deemed somewhat acceptable in light of her feeling threatened, but even she turned it in to a race thing and then everyone went with it, exploding nothing in to a race war across social media.

We all know why this is a thing and myBB doesn't exist in a vacuum, opinions expressed here will be mirrored across all media platforms and often times influenced by these same platforms.

are you saying that if you were in the womans position, and that guy handled your kid like that, that just because he was a large guy, you would leave it? *** it, i wouldnt care if he was much larger than me, ill take him on. If i lose the battle and he moers me, fine, but ill take him outside away from all the children and he can do it there.

or are you saying that she should have kept quiet long before he handled her kid?

When you start off your sentence with "you men" you've already lost me because it means you're getting emotional and will tie previous experiences into an unrelated incident.

It's not fair to tie previous events which this man was not directly involved in into your fabricated narrative of men always talking down to women or intimidating women. I'm a man and I can't be held to account for your past experiences, because everything I say to you will automatically be filtered by your "men are x with woman" mentality.

We are here debating an event that occurred between two human beings and who is to blame for the events that led up to the disgrace we bore witness to.

Again, I agree.

My daughter and my sister's son love each other to bits but if they don't fight everytime they see each other then there is something wrong. Neither myself & the wife nor my sis & bro-in-law have ever had an excuse to be "noors" with each other because of this because like you say, kids fight all the time & then when it is time to go home they don't want to because they want to still play together.

But I would not expect the above temperament of a lady who finds herself in the situation as the lady in question.
