Spur Steaks Suck!

So not having stepped into Spur for a good few years went to try one of their steaks to see if anything has changed in their quality.

While not as bad as OP stated, their quality is mediocre at the best. At best I would rate the steak at around 6.8 and the ambience around 4.

Slightly tough, covered in some average basting sauce, definitely not a well aged prime cut and not rested....medium though was medium, that they got right.

If I had kids under 10 I would go back, let them run amok in the place, and not having to cook and clean then their 6.8 quality steak is not a bad offer.

I am not sure why any adult without kids and spoilt for choice would go to Spur, but heck, maybe some people just don't mind paying for an average meal.

I agree, McDonalds burgers for me. Steers ones just taste like that sauce has been injected all over the burger, bun, pickles.. everywhere.

My gripe with Steers is you look up at the menu and it is these beautiful burgers and you start to justify the price. Then you get this box which looks look it was kicked around and your two buns are stuck to one side, the patty to the other side and in between is a mess of salad and sauce. When you look at a McDonalds menu you can see the burger is flat and round, just like when you unwrap it.

I don't eat fast food a lot, but apart from Steers it's all good, Wimpy, McDonalds, Burger King, KFC - the lot of them - all my fine food. Once you start criticizing them then perhaps you are eating it too often.

Tens of millions of Big Mac are sold every day. Does it make it filled a good beef patty or does it remain a blend of bones and cartilage aggregated together?

What the execs who sell crap think and the fact that people buy it does not make it a good product. A sellable one at best.
You see... another subjective biased opinion. MacDonald's beef patties are 100% grade A south african beef. How do I know? Because I've cooked them straight out of the box myself when we were doing a charity drive at McDonald's. I've seen the boxes that they come out of. I've seen the names of the SA beef suppliers on the boxes.

This just proves my point. People have assumed a position that they think is true because of urban legend and because everyone loves to hate what is popular. But it is not a position based on facts.

Because pink slime has never been part of the patties?

Anyway, even if it was a 600% pure grass fed free range beef pattie, a McDonald pattie is still what it is, a cheap, tasteless, industrial burger pattie.

And it will always be less and flavorful than a medium rare homemade (properly) patty.

Same for a Spur vs a good butcher’s steak. It’s probably good for the price (McDonald is, Spur not even), but that’s it.

Good for you. The reason I go to McDonald's and Spur is so I don't have to do it myself and I know what I'm going to get.

I go to McDonald when I don’t feel like a sandwich and don’t have time for a real meal. Same for Steers but I’d avoid Steer even more than McDonald.

I go to Spur when I’m literally forced, i have never been by myself or with friends and only for business diners in small towns where the choice is KFC/Ocean Basket or Spur. If there was a Nando’s, it would be way above Spur in my list.

Neither of them is a pleasure or a treat, but something I do reluctantly.

If I feel like a burger, I feel like a juicy patty with bacon/avo and go get one at a local restaurant. If I feel like a steak, I feel like a matured tender and tasty steak and go to a steak house.

But taste and colors...

I quite enjoy Spur burgers. Macdonald's as well, for that matter, although I obviously recognise that what I'm eating in the latter case is nothing approaching food in its natural state.

As for Spur streaks, I can't recall them being very good, but if I'm going to eat a steak, I'd prefer to go to a specialised steak joint in any event.

I don't get though, why people feel so strongly about defending their like and dislike about certain foods and restaurants. Who cares...

I actually quite like McDonald's, from time to time. In fact we had it last night. There's something really timeless about their Big Mac and fries. It's not great food but sometimes you just feel like that.

Spur on the other hand, I mostly just avoid if possible. I can't keep track of the bad experiences. I used to like their nachos but these days they're burned and stodgy. Vrot ice cream, rubberised burgers, it's a mess. I haven't eaten there in over a year and it always feels like it's going to be a grim experience

How could I not think of a Valentine’s at Spur? It’s even valid until the 28th.

Having worked for spur for many years.

I can assure you all prime cuts are matured for a minimum of 21 days . All cuts are AAA grade with external audits conducted randomly through out the month .

All cuts are prechecked for sinue ECT and weighed to the exact advertised weight .

Training is Conducted monthly and skills development is crucial to the brand .
Unfortunately human error is a factor but there will never be an instance where management will not replace or refund you for an unsatisfactory visit .

The spur basting sauce is renowned and with the baste and grill preparation method I garuntee a more consistent steak across the large amount of franchises as compared to you niche single establishments who don't have the logistical woes of a large company such as spur or steers mc Donald ECT .

I believe there is a reason Ramsay has a handful of establishments and there is a reason why corporations employ a streamlined preparation method to there brands.

Before taking on the task of defaming a brand on a social platform try contacting them directly voicing your concerns and going in to view the problem suggest a solution or justify your complaints .

Had dinner there tonight.

Looked like the steak has marinated in brine (salty as hell inside) and same for the basting (salty at the extent that I had to take out the basting from the top of the steak). I could barely finish it because of the salt.

I'm sorry but I never had a "good" experience at Spur, it's passable at best. It's consistent the same way than McDonald's is.

Do you even know the definition of defamation? Can you quote some examples of defamation here?

I hope not by choice.
