Stage 4 load shedding is coming

This is a clever tactic, face it, give Eskom credit. After all of this they are SURE to get all the price increases their hearts desire. Of course, it only affects the paying customers.

..that and before you know it, we'll expect so little from public services/government/utilities/roads/rails/broadcasters that we'll hand over all our taxes without question. Oh wait, we're there already. Is 21 years to break us down a long time or in record time?
 
LOL at dancing around the problem with stage 4, 3.5, 99.2 etc.

Switch off the ****ers that don't pay. Problem solved. I guarantee that once those that don't pay sit without electricity for a week or so, so will quickly make a plan to pay up. Another problem solved.

This is a crisis and political correctness unfortunately has to take a back seat. Switch off the damn power to people that don't pay. By this, I don't mean to switch off electricity to the monkeypalities who owe billions as you will be punishing the people in those areas that do pay, but whose money was pissed away somewhere else instead of paying Eskom.
 
WHile we're on this subject... can't the people at poweralert.co.za use the following color schemes :


GREEN : everything's peachy
YELLOW : slight strain
ORANGE : network is definitely taking strain
RED : (formerly BLACK) big problem, switch off devices and start loadshed stage 1.
BLACK : loadshed stage 2
PINK : loadshed stage 3
PINK with HELLO KITTY : loadshed stage 4/5/6

Then this country needs to sort out it's people first. You can't have what you don't pay/work for. I've grown up with that in mind... Had to mow the lawn for pocket money... never had handouts. Which now I am extremely grateful for...

But hey all these people that lack an education, are wanting things for free and without effort, as if we who have an education haven't sacrificed to get where we are.... Do they have to wake up every week day at a set time of day and spend a set time at a place of employment where most of the time we aren't enjoying ourselves?

No matter how hard you try to battle anything going wrong in this country the one thing that sorely needs to be fixed is the education system, get off the OBE or whatever it is... it's not helping and Universities must not have different criteria for different races... I mean I've seen guys coming in for a programming position(Which luckily enough requires you to do a practical test in most cases) and they can't even establish a DB connection... They obviously don't make the second interview... But in other sectors there is no such "Test of skill" before interview.

If the people that don't pay are cut off only to be switched on again once they have paid, how exactly will this fix the issue? The load will then return to the grid but Escum has more money to waste.

Best solution is to leave this broken country and go somewhere else. This will not change in our lifetime.
 
FYI guys I believe another 2 units are going down today. So that's another 1200MW short.
 
OK, so stage 4 is actually not that bad. This might mean less load shedding at stage 3. Stage 3 used to be up to 4000mw anyway, so there is no real difference essentially.

His wish should be granted, I doubt the WC generates enough power to support itself, koeberg is always on the blink anyway.

A total blackout isn't a stage. It's what will happen if load shedding isn't implemented on time.

We're just as much at risk of a grid collapse at stage 1 as at stage 3.

Word "blackout" has definition as involuntarily (not by utility) disconnection and planned (by utility) disconnection.

It connotates with more serious problems overseas in recent times.

This may lead to unnecessary confusion and panic.

So they took more "friendly" term.

No, blackout means total outage as in no lights at all.
 
I don't think a total blackout will ever happen to be honest. I mean Eskom will rather quickly cut bulk supply to JHB,CPT or Durban and then implement stage 4 loadshedding and as soon as the grid stabilized again switch them back on.

I don't think they will intentionally if loadshedding is being implemented too slowly let a total blackout occur....
