Star Trek

TNG was my least favourite of all the series - Jean-Luc Picard being the wuss he was, always having to rely on his 2IC to man up and get the job done.

I really enjoyed Enterprise.

Now not ever having watched any Star Trek before this in my life, I would preferable like to start from the beginning, being Season 1 I guess?

I asked at a video store and they didn't have it... Does anyone know any video stores that will have it around Durban, preferably somewhere around the Hillcrest/Kloof area?

it starts of TOS; The Original Series (1966–1969). which is what i'm currently watching. there after it is

The Animated Series (1973–1974)
The Next Generation (1987–1994)
Deep Space Nine (1993–1999)
Voyager (1995–2001)
Enterprise (2001–2005)


if you don't have an apprication of where things come from / where it all started or what story and filming used to be i would rather suggest staying away.

Star Trek is a space opera. Just Bold and Beautiful in space with phasers and some sexual tension between Kirk/Spock; Picard/Riker; Picard/Dada; and subsequent characrers. The early episodes are cheesy by today's standards, the latter episodes are just typical politically correct drivel with expensive yet cheesy make up. Some episodes were said to be good - City on the Edge of Tomorrow - but most just reflect the current political/social tensions - so you'll see Iraq War/terrorism/Left vs Right US politics themes in latest Star Treks while early ones focused on things such as Cold War, then Vietnam War and so on.

TNG & Enterprise were my favourites. No idea why they stopped Enterprise :mad:

That ensign crusher dude in TNG did annoy the the crap out of me though.

Pooky, don't listen to these morons! :D They are not True Trekkies! :p

The earlier episodes of Star Trek are awesome. Yes, they are cheesy, but you are not watching for the special effects, but the drama... and the drama is excellent. There is only three seasons anyway and you will zoom through them. It is also necessary to watch them cos the later series build upon the originals....

This is the order in which you should watch them...

when Star Trek first appeared there was action with blood and guts but as time went on it became like a soapy and very PC i think.

OK, will have to start copying to DVD and will let you know when ready to send some. You can either send DVDs back when finished or send me blank DVDs.
