The series is set 100 years or so before the Phantom Menace, in the High Republic era and chronicles the rise of the Dark Side of the Force. The story has potential but some fans will likely be disappointed irrespective of how it unfolds. At least it will feature mostly new and fresh characters, so the legacy characters and stories should be preserved for the most part. I'll reserve judgement until I've seen some of it. The first trailer looks okay.

Trailer was OK, but jeez, Disney really milking the heck out of Star Wars.
I'm not going to complain about too much Star Wars.

Apart from Kenobi, I've really enjoyed the TV shows so far. Book of Boba Fett was hit or miss but still fun to watch.

If I don't like something then I'll just skip it, but would rather have the option than not.

Anyone actually still watching this pile of dung?

I haven't watched any shows because The Critical Drinker's reviews are all I need to know that it is truly one of the dumbest shows ever.

Spoiler question:
Can someone explain why the Jedi surrounded by the force-shield drinks the poison?
Curious, thanks.

They really are doing everything they can to destroy the Star Wars brand. I think at this stage we must just accept that the old Star Wars movies based on solid characters and good stories is over. They will keep on down this path.

my IMDB Review on Episode 3....

Even the most die hard of fans have their limits
So I am a Star Wars fan. I did not like this. At all. No, not at all. It was just bad on every level. That was all I was going to write, but I am unfortunately required to add more to this review. Look, we have done our best to stick by the fandom and be loyal to the show. We stuck with you all through The Last Jedi and the Rise of Skywalker. We stuck with you through Boba Fett and all of the Mandalorian and Ahsoka. We praised you for Andor.... but this... this is garbage. This is tripe. This is just bad. This is going too far. Please fire somebody, dig the drawing board out of the basement and get back to it.... OK minimum character limit met thank god...

The Acolyte is Star Wars's origin story now. Anything in the present will need to be lore adapted, there will be tie in explainers.

Regardless of the reservations we might have about how the overall series is flowing or is presented, it's abundantly clear by now that creator Leslye Headland had a story that was worth telling in mind and has managed to bring it to life without making too many concessions. So far, The Acolyte comes across as the kind of Star Wars story fans who actually like the franchise (despite its ups and downs) were clamoring for. It's adding to the mythology at every turn and daring to ask some big questions that traditionally have been limited to Legends stories; as a result, the Star Wars galaxy is feeling, for the first time in a while, larger instead of smaller.

Your dissent will be overshadowed by widespread approval.

Forbes has since published more articles on the series with a more positive outlook, one having a more balanced take.

This is happening in all media.

The show is illogical. Twins separated for 15 years look exactly the same down to their unusual braid type, length and braid dye colour? At least give them different hairstyles but I guess that is too hard for makeup to do. That actress also cannot act two roles and you at all times know it is the same person. Her motivation is also off, she tries murdering her own sister by burning her alive but then doesn't show same hate later while she tries kill others at same time,
Very poorly written script.

I am not in the mind that Disney cares what you think. The entertainment industry has changed.

You can't frame $h!t... it just falls out of the frame....

Not a fan of the third episode much but maybe my mind changes once we learn more.

That flashback definitely did not tell the full story.

Only seen the first episode, was OK.
Not amused with the "Master Jedi" dying in the first couple of minutes but then again she's a women so cant multi-task for ****.
Has light saber in her hand but can only block a single knife throw and not the one coming at her chest, maybe I'm missing something here......

Required to fit the story ... ?

Yes, the industry has changed. The fans have not. They don't like it.

As always, the critics score it high, and the fans (the people who matter) score it loooow, 18% for goodness sake.
