Why the hate for Jaws? For me, part of the charm is the fact that the shark is actually ''real''.
 
I like classic Jabba more than "Special Edition" Jabba.

Hell, I like LOTR's orcs better than The Hobbit's CGI ones.

Puppeteers included David Alan Barclay, Toby Philpott, and Mike Edmonds, who were members of Jim Henson's Muppet group. Barclay operated the right arm and mouth and read the character's English dialogue, while Philpott controlled the left arm, head, and tongue. Edmonds, the shortest of the three men (he also played the Ewok Logray in later scenes) was responsible for the movement of Jabba's tail. Tony Cox, who also played an Ewok, would assist as well. The eyes and facial expressions were operated by radio control.

The one spawned the summer blockbuster and has been deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". The other is a spoof.

Can't even begin to compare the acting either. Scheider, Shaw and Dreyfuss were excellent together.

Well, not really. I try to separate the visual effects in a movie from the quality of the movie, with allowances for the technology that was available at the time. But on the other hand, if it really depends on scares from the appearance of the shark, and the shark isn't effective because of creaky animatronics, then it affects the quality. So I don't know, but I'm inclined to think that it's still going to be a good movie if you just go with it.

And I'm sure you will. But the CGI vs animatronics was the topic of discussion here.
 
The latest issue of Shattered Empire #4 reveals Poe's parents and also hints that he could be Force sensitive

This, the animatronic shark is used very sparingly, until near the very end. There is also a fantastic scene of a real great white ripping apart a shark cage. The Indianapolis monologue is still enough to give chills..
 
OK, so I re-watched the trailer several times to see if I can pick up a sucky vibe... like Phantom Menace after the fact.
Now the truth is, I don't HATE Phantom Menace, I'm just not that impressed by it.
I don't HATE any of the movies or characters.

I can't pick up anything sucky in this trailer though.
What's immediately interesting is how much that girl's face look like the young Anakin.
I wonder if that was intentional, but she looks like young Anakin's older sister.

The black dude (forgive me - I suck with names), he might look slightly too intense, so I hope he doesn't overplay the part.
I don't see any really questionable characters.

Maybe we should do a cut by cut analysis of the Trailer to pass the time until the movie is released?

But for now... I am not worried that this movie is going to suck. It's not.
But I am worried that it's not going to be awesome.
