The original Wars, Jaws, Alien and Jurassic Park are a few of the movies that made extensive use of puppets, animatronics and/or early CGI that still hold up really well, in my opinion.

Although to be fair most of what made Jaws work was not showing much of the shark because they had so many problems with it.

+1 On Alien and Jurassic Park though.

No, it won't. Most of the time you have no idea that you're even viewing CGI. It's used in nearly every frame of movies these days. Bad CGI is just bad, but good CGI is invisible, which is what leads you to believe that animatronics are so much better.

People were eager to see the previous three, and we were highly disappointed that they weren't good. People are hopeful that JJ Abrams and Disney will do a better job than George Lucas. Star Wars has an enormous fanbase so public appetite for a decent new trilogy is very high.
