So browsing Btgames' PC release schedule (http://www.btgames.co.za/btgames/release.asp) I noticed they added Starcraft 2 for a May release (I'm guessing this is a......guess on their part)....but what truly concerns me is I see it listed for R665! More than TWICE what pc games usually go for and while I'd heard rumours it'd be more expensive than normal............double the price sounds a little suspicious to me.

Anyone know if there's any truth to this crazygonutspants price?

Lol, ridiculous price.

*EDIT* You sure thats not a collectors edition price though? Those can be quite pricey, I got Nightfall for R499 when it first came out.

Looks like BTGames is charging 600R+ for the normal edition, 900R+ for the collectors.

I'm not overly concerned just yet as its still early days and the publishers wouldn't have announced the prices just yet and BTGames would've put higher prices then they think it will be for the people pre-ordering and pre-paying. They'll update the price as they get more info. That said they usually get some indication of the prices from the local distributer so who knows.. if this is a start of a new trend with pc game pricing..

Flea market will have it for R120 with no copy protection to sour the experience.

So it doesn't matter at what price it does get released at you are not interested in paying for what is probably going to be a great game. You have already made up your mind that you are going to go the illegal way.

WTFLOL, i prefer pc gaming as the experience is better and the prices are better. But if this is a new trend, i will pirate all my pc games.

Sadly, a pirated version will most likely not allow online gameplay :-S

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU Blizzard!!

Illegal?

That's not what the guy at the flea market told me...

Was just going to say that if it is indeed priced too high, then it will push gamers to go the piracy route. Can only hope that they don't go overboard.

That aside, I have heard that SC2 has not been guaranteed for May. The last mentioned was that they were pushing to get it in the first half of the year.

Imminent? :D

  1. Starcraft II : Wings of Liberty PC-CD/DVD Blizzard Strategy 665.00 629.00 ++ May
  2. Starcraft II : Wings of Liberty Collectors PC-CD/DVD Blizzard Strategy 965.00 915.00 ++ May

Here is the lines of BT's site - the 2nd price is pre-order & note the collector's price

Guess stores like Kalahari will be getting tons of business ;)

It's about time PC pricing met console pricing.

Why?
That is one thing that pc gained over the consoles was the price.
I think three times before i buy a console game if I can get it on pc I will rather go for that cause of the price.

What do you expect from activision, just look at what they did to mw2

I don't have a internet connection at home so I don't play online, If I want to play the game at all it will have to be the original flea market edition.:D

I'd gladly pay that....I spend 700bucks on xbox games quite often,so spending that on what is going to be the best game this year is quite worth it in my opinion, problem is,I definitely dont think id spend it 3 times for the same game

I have to lol at people actually buying pirated games. :D That's even a bigger rip-off than buying the non-pirated game.

All they do is download the game and crack, rip it disc, put it in a jewel case (a freakin jewel case :D), print the cover and label the disc. Then they sell this for R120!!!! It probably costs them R20 per game.
