Hi all

First time posting on MyBB having been a long time lurker. This is not your conventional "Software Development" post.

I'm needing two co-developers in a business venture that I am starting. I can't divulge the actual idea on here, but I will tell you that there are investors ready to finance the venture. I have also done some market research and spoken with key individuals in the industry who were highly receptive.

I realise this isn't a lot to go on by. However, I'm happy to outline the entire concept and answer any questions if you wish to meet.

Will need the following two positions.
Senior/Intermediate Developer
Skills:
  • C#
  • MS SQL
  • Development Methodologies (e.g. Domain Driven Design)
  • REST API Design (Bonus)
  • Unit Tests (Bonus)
  • Security (Bonus)
  • NoSQL (Bonus)
  • DocumentDb (Bonus)
Salary: 25k-35k pm

Front-End Developer
Skills:
  • HTML, Javascript and CSS
  • AngularJS (Bonus)
  • NodeJs (Bonus)
  • LESS/SASS (Bonus)
  • Bootstrap (Bonus)
  • Photoshop (Bonus)
Salary: 15k-25k pm

Both positions' salaries are negotiable based off your expertise and comes with shares in the company. Ideally want full-time developers but it can be discussed.

Please pm me or reply below if you are interested or know someone who will be.

I know you put a lot of the stuff as a bonus to have but I feel you will wind up having 2 options:
a) the person has the skills with decent experience in which case you would need to be paying a lot more
b) the person has the skills but very little experience in which case it will take them quite a while to put it all together quickly

I may be wrong though as you do get all kinds.

Anyway came in expecting the usual work for free for 50% of the business thing and was pleasantly surprised to see someone who has actually gotten off their ass and done the leg work and especially offering salaries. Good job and all the best!

Thanks Vampire for the advice!

Mainly put those bonus skills so people can see the potential technology stack. You are right though about the experience issue.

That is why the salary is negotiable and may exceed the upper bracket stated, if someone has significant experience. Unfortunately, it isn't possible to match a corporation equivalent salary from the get go.

What it does offer, that you wouldn't find at a typical job, is that you are a part of the company from the ground level and given equity in the business. That is why I am happy to meet anyone interested, and explain the concept, as the idea would be key in the decision to join.

EDIT: I have edited the salary to reflect a higher upper bound.

Care to divulge the broad industry the app will service?

Hi CheekyC

Sure, it is a type of "Point of Sales" system. Don't let that dither you though as I am well aware that that market is highly saturated.

I assume that "getting equity" also means "giving money" if/when needed, else dilute?

How many months of funding have you secured?

Given them a conservative development time of a year for a team of 3 developers, which they willing to fund. Obviously, the months funded depends on the size of the team and level of expertise.

Hopefully though, phase 1 of the product will be developed well before that time.

There will be an initial restriction on the withdrawal of shares. This period has yet to be decided on but should be around a year.

Thanks for the significant interest so far.

Due to the number of applicants outside of Cape Town, we decided that working remotely will be a possibility.

Please message me before the 1st May, if you wish to join in a full-time or part-time capacity.
