The drive through one at West Coast village?

Go to this one! They are really good, the one on the beachfront makes lame burgers, bought a King Steer there once and it was about half the size of the ones they make at West Coast village one.
 
Are they still running this special? I had a McD's S.African burger combo tonight. It was way too salty. And actually too much meat (i'm not a big eater) and too messy. And not cool when drive thru takes up 10 minutes of one's time... I'll be hitting Steers next time instead.
 
I just tried one of these...

Its passable as a crappy fast food burger, but its nothing special.. their plain cheese and bacon burger is better in my opinion.

Not currently a permanent menu item but its been a very popular special so at the next menu review they might decide to bring it on permanently.

Question is would you buy one at around R40 if it didn't include fries cause that's more or less what you would pay for it if it weren't on promotion?

i'm undecided. I still haven't tasted the pork rib version. Most of the steers around Cape Town seem to be halaal. Just had a mega ribster for dinner tonight. I think I am beginning to tire of this faux rib / Macon concoction :(

To tell you the truth I would not, I'd rather go to burger king and get a double whopper for R33.
If it still had the chips, or if it was actual pork ribs - sure

Burger King must just spread all over now!

Unlikely due to the cost. I still think it its along Mcdonalds lines in the interest of economicx

We’ve also learned that fast food fare such as McDonald’s hamburgers contain so many chemicals and so few real food ingredients that a burger fails to show signs of decomposition after more than a decade...

The famous McDonald’s McRib also came under closer scrutiny, and turned out to be something less than mouthwatering. The McRib sandwich is a non-standard item on the fast food restaurant’s menu;1 its annual return is always advertised with great fanfare — last year it even made the headlines on ABC News.2

The pork sandwich is described as a tasty fan favorite slathered in tangy barbecue sauce, slivered onions and tart pickles, served on a hoagie style bun. Sounds perfectly normal, but what’s it made of, really? In a November 2011 article, CBS Chicago news3 spilled the beans on this seasonal favorite:

“More than 70 ingredients make up the McRib and, yes, one of them is pork. But as CBS 2’s Vince Gerasole reports, there’s also an ingredient that can be found in shoes... [Registered dietician Cassie] Vanderwall gave the McRib a closer look and found the McRib has azodicarbonamide, which is used to bleach the flour in bread. It has other uses. 'It could be on your yoga mat, in your gym shoes, in your anything that’s rubbery,' Vanderwall said...

Then there’s the pork – which is really restructured meat product. In other words, it’s made from all the less expensive innards and castoffs from the pig... Vanderwall said the McRib ingredient list 'reminds me of a chemistry lab.'”

Only if they can get their quality to be consistent. You are one of the few so far who hail their burgers as amazing. I've seen way more "mehs" than anything else. Even their biggest fan Tim182 has somewhat turned against them.

And they have to sort out their long queues. It's not fast food if the queue is 30 minutes long. Time spent waiting has to be factored in to the "cost". Last week when I went to Sevruga for sushi, less than 10minutes after we ordered our platter we had our food! I was still munching on the complimentary bread when the sushi was served!! R70 a head (excl tip) for the sushi and quick amazing service :). And this was 7:30pm on a moderately busy Thursday night.

You guys must have hyped BK up too much, while I was not expecting much.
Staff was also EXTREMELY friendly too.

They're just too far away from me but when they open one close enough I probably won't eat steers much.
BK is just better - their Burgers, their chips, their unlimited drinks, their variety, their prices, their staff - everything.

And now who is hyping..? ;) You make it sound like it's something other than a bog standard junk food outlet.
