Still connected but only able to access Cell C website

now it seems to work... Still got 5000mb more than what i should have... :)

Same thing happened to me this morning, I was working fine on it last night, had the usual disconnects here in Stellenbosch, but it's getting less.... Anyways, I've got the 2Gb/month one, used about 120mb and this morning it showed no airtime and no data, also no sites working other than the Cell C site, with 99% HSPA connectivity.

Checked on it just now, and now I've got 5118Mb data, so that means twice what I'm supposed to have..

Just thought I'd mention it, maybe after the weekend's upgrade our friends decided to make up for crappy January??

Cell C is experiencing problems with their pre-paid data at the moment - could be due to a glitch in their upgrade over the weekend? Guess they'll have it fixed soon...

Gmail connection

I had the same problem re only connecting to Cell C website. It seemed to fix itself and I can access all as usual. Except for Gmail, which I can only access in Standard View when I have Firefox in Safe Mode. If Firefox is not in Safe Mode, I can access Gmail in basic HTML mode only.

This should help if some missed it...

It comes down to the fact that if you did check your data balance on your data card it would have reflected 0 for a long time yesterday, due to cell c doing upgrades, but Ron did, however, remove all charging aspects and thus we had free internet for about an hour or 2. Everything should be back to normal now.

Had the problem now

Could only access the cell c website

couldnt even ping their assigned dns

Using cellc sim in iphone 4, port elizabeth

Probably not gonna be the last time you experience this - sorry to say...

Mine is quite constant ATM, every day I get home i need to disconnect, reconnect. @Ronbo, is there an explanation for this? It is quite frustrating, one would expect broadband to just 'work'

Seems like CellC overlooked this problem…..

Disconnects are now a thing of the past (hopefully)....edge is history(hopefully)...... but every few hours or so all internet comes to grinding halt and you’re only allowed to browse the CellC website.....i still have plenty bandwidth available so cap is not an issue...??

Please CellC, sort out this cr@p!!!....its seriosuly frustrating!

I am starting to experience the same problem at the moment but maybe this is due to updates/upgrades happening over at cell c hq, works perfectly for approx 3hours or so, then I am only able to access cellc website then have reconnect to (cellc whoooooosh network), impressed a massive improvement with sites loading in less than 2seconds.

I also get the disconnects every 1–2 hours in Braamfontein.

Throughput problems

Since last weekend, I have noticed the following:

The E1820 remains connected, but every now and then (maybe 5 or 6 times per day) there is zero throughput.

Disconnecting and reconnecting immediately solves the problem.

It's not the end of the world - just irritating. I did not experience any such problems (or even disconnects) before the weekend.

Anyone else experiencing the same thing?

The exact same thing's been happening to me lately, and it wasn't a problem before.

I was speaking tjol with some mates on IM and went to go get something to eat. Got back about 10 mins later and there it was: nothing! I could open http://www.cellc.co.za but nothing else; my modem was still connected, with a soothing cyan-coloured LED and everything; checked MDMA, which said "HSPA+, -69dBm, tower 22492"; couldn't ping DNS servers but could still resolve stuff; and traceroutes to www.cellc.co.za and www.google.co.za look similar to what ginggs (I think it was) had posted earlier in this thread.

Win7 64-bit, Centurion. I've already disabled all the idle timeout / power savings settings I can think of since it does sort of feel like an idle timeout issue, but I never had this problem during my first 2 months of being with Cell C (Dec. 2010 and Jan. 2011) and back then all those settings were still enabled, so to be honest... I don't think it's me or my PC or my bad karma or anything like that.

Please, Cell C. I cancelled my Telscum ADSL in order to get a connection that's both WHOOOOOSH and (more importantly, to me) S T A B L E, so it would be stupendously satisfying to me if you could perhaps look into this and maybe even fix it. Thanks!

Okay, it just happened again while I was busy editing a Wikipedia article. Seemingly random and veeeery annoying! Luckily I managed to copy everything as soon as I realised the page wasn't going to load. Maybe I'll go edit the "Cell C" article next . . .

Anyway, it's not a "computer-is-idle" problem, methinks, since I was sitting here the whole time typing away. It might still be a "connection-is-idle" thing, since I wasn't really doing any traffic while editing. My Pidgin was connected the whole time though, so I dunno.

I have this also....and have complained in numerous threads, complained to Trevor and to Ron. I have been experiencing this since the 3rd or so day that I got the modem. It seems there are lots of others complaining about the same, or very similar issues.

It really sucks.
