Still connected but only able to access Cell C website

this happen to me as well, browsing beautiful the next minute couldn't browse or ping any website except visit CELLC, had to re-establish connection to the network then my WOOOOSH speeds were back up and running :) Also played some poker online used around 50megs or so over 8hours without browsing any websites, that is freaking amazing - I thought by the end of the evening I would of probably consumed around 500meg or so but was I mistaken

this really is a weird problem. Haven't had any issues with it. Ran my connection solid for 36 hrs nothing. Download serveral largeish files (200mb +) nothing wrong. Used a personal bot program to run random searches on a website (9hrs) no problem. So i guess i'm just lucky.

Just happened to me. Was browsing and quickly got up to fetch my toast. While I was fetching my toast, I had a ping running (ping www.cellc.co.za -l -t 2). When I got back the ping was timing out. But I was still able to browse Cell C's site. But what is weird is nslookups for several sites I tried did resolve the dns. So why can I get an IP address for them but not get traffic flowing?
This is not a promo sim. It's a normal prepaid voice sim with a 250 MB data bundle loaded.

I also found that DNS lookups still worked. What I found really weird was the first ping to a site other than www.cellc.co.za gets through, but subsequent pings are lost, see here.

Interesting, so its a general Cell-C problem, not just limited to the promotion then.

Ok I started experiencing this for the first tome now. Immediately came to this thread, but seems there are no solid answers yet.
Initially I had constant disconnects on my laptop and pc ( both win7 x64)
Got a cisco E3000 and loaded DD-WRT. Been running great ever since, until tonight. Connection is still alive, but I can only access cell c website. Rebooted router, and it was fine again. After idling for an hour or 2, and I could only access cell c page again.
I also noticed that my speed dropped significantly. Usually averaged 3-6Mbps, now I only get 1Mbps...

Does anyone have some solid answers or should I contact cell c?

Experienced the same problem tonight although it happened while I was busy browsing. Disconnect/reconnect as usual solves the problem. Rather annoying IMO.

Well once again I've had the all sites block expect Cell C's site issue tonight. It's actually becoming more frequent now which is very worrying. Strangely enough I recall having a similar problem (connected but not able to browse) with my Vodacom sim a few times in the past. Could this be a tower issue?

I am starting to have this problem ongoing again... A couple of base stations are once again down or being tweaked on, couldn't do jack only visit cell c website, tried to ping a website no response, reconnected to the network then had a response 1minute later same thing...

I am assuming it has something to do with the base stations/perhaps a firmware update is required....

I don't think it has something to do with the base stations. As only being able to access the www.cellc.co.za is also a symptom of not having any airtime/data and data services not being active on your SIM, I think it is a provisioning problem; somewhere Cell-C's systems are unable to check your balance or whether data services are active and then you end up in the "walled garden".

My money would also be on a provisioning system problem.

If CELL C do actually have a fault on their "provisioning system" why don't they just patch all the servers up to isolate fault.. Its starting to irritate me - like a continuous thing weekly..

I'm pretty sure if it was an easy fix, they would have done so by now.

Been experiencing this a lot too (like 2 to 3 times a week). One minute everything is working and the next minute I can only access the Cell C website. A disconnect and reconnect always seems to fix it though. This error does occur at random times though - sometimes after being connected for a few minutes and sometimes only after 2 or 3 days of being permanently connected.
Fix this Cell C!!! It's bl**dy irritating!!

Yip, occurred again. FIX THIS!!!!

Do you guys mostly experience this at the end of the month, or does it happen any time of the month?
