Still connected but only able to access Cell C website

ah Ok,I forgot about it happening on the ph also

Same problem. Been stuck with it ever since i got my modem & package.
Is CellC looking into it?
Do they even know this problem exists?
How bout CellC dash with 24hr auto reconnect or some sort of fix.

Hey guys just out of curiosity..... Does this problem occur randomly or after a given amout of time? And knowing the types of people on mybb everyone has checked their cap?

I would say it's randomly after a certain amount of time. I have certainly still had plenty of cap left when this has happened to me. Disconnect reconnect normally solves the problem.

It is random but only after being connected for a few hours.

When I tried to go online this morning I could only reach www.cellc.co.za and my router log showed the connection had been established on December 17 at 07:50. So this time it happened after being connected for between 44 and 51 hours.

Cap is still good, disconnected and reconnected and I'm back online.

Have you made sure that there is no power saving options causing this prob (Vista/Win 7)?

My Cell-C E1820 is plugged into a MikroTik RB-411U router, so no possibility of Vista / Windows 7 power saving options being a problem.

In that case your connection would be down and you would not be able to access any sites.

my bad forgot to take that into consideration. Might be an authentication error on cell c's side after the connection becomes idle.

I got home now to find that I could only access the CellC site.

ginggs: no email only a fone call. That was at end of october i think.

is this still an issue or have ppl just stopped posting about it?

Yes started happening to me recently, I'm connected via a Hauwei E1820 in a TP-LINK MR3420.
After being connected for about an hour, I still have internet connectivity but I am only able to browse to the cellc website.
I have to disconnect the modem and reconnect and then I am able to browse as per normal again.

just to clarify is this a random event? ie does it happen while browsing or after it's been idle for a while (idle= long download and no other traffic or just left connected)? Havn't had this happen to me yet so wanna try recreate to see if there is some kind of pattern

I have managed to produce this by keeping a single connection going for more than 2 days. For example.
Connect Sunday Evening, whoooshh.
Monday: Wake up for the morning whoooshh. Go to work. Get home more whoooshh
Tuesday: Wake up for the morning whoooshh. Go to work. Get home more whoooshh
Wednesday: Wake up, no whoooshh, cellc.co.za only. Disconnect/Reconnect voila! whoooshh.

It's not guaranteed though. I have seen it less than I did in the past.

random event on numerous occasions for me...connectivity on average lasts between 1 - 6 hours whether its idle or downloading before you need to reboot router.

Last night I had no issues. Router with modem ran fine...

Hmmm... only been using CellC for the last week or so. This morning I discovered the modem was connected but only able to access CellC. The connection had been up for about 15hours - I think my phone is keeping the connection open (router idle disconnect specified at 30 minutes).
