Hi Guys,

As the title suggests, I am wanting to store my iTunes library for my Macbook Pro Retina 2014 on my external hard drive.

I have an iTunes library which is 33GB on my Windows desktop but as I don't want to take up space on my macbook with music I was wondering if I could store the iTunes library on my external HDD and connect it to my macbook when I want to use iTunes.

Could you suggest any methods as to how this can be done.

I would greatly appreciate your help.

Kind Regards.

I don't really know what happen if external drive is temporary disconnected, waiting also for suggestions.
Nothing, as long as iTunes isn't running. If it starts, and the external drive isn't connected, you'll get a warning that the library cannot be found.

So closing iTunes an reconnecting drive will fix problem, correct?

Hi,

It's pretty easy, close iTunes and open it again by holding down the Alt key & clicking the iTunes icon. It should allow you to browse to the iTunes library on your external disk. Select the one on you external drive and it'll use that from now on.
