Stores with good service

8ta didn't like it that I am retired. After 40 mins on the phone, he said unless I could prove a regular income from an employer, I would not qualify. It does not matter my income is 40 times what 8ta want in a month, if you don't fall into their narrow range of criteria, you are stuffed. Each question I asked "do you want bank statements", "cannot I pay in advance", got a NO.

Thats narrow minded - Maybe 8ta rep can assist - A manager should be able to override that. :)

Confirm chris4290 problem!
Guys, I start thinking 8ta catched thousand monkeys and put 'em into Hellkom office - THEY UNDERSTAND NOTHING! No matter how rich you are, no matter how ridiculous their "requirements", they just follow letter by letter for their instructions! I explained 'em TEN TIMES: My visa expires in 10 months, but if you (greedy fatties) so worry you don't take all money in the world, TAKE IT RIGHT NOW. ALL 5 THOUSANDS! What I heard in answer? MU-HA-HA!!!! She said: "But your visa is expired!". :)))))))))) You know.................... MY DOG understands MUCH MORE than that "piece of unpriveleged dumb-teller". What a business 8ta talking about!!?!?!?!

I got that lesson: even if you sculp somthing candy-shaped from sh*t, it will never be candy - it will be the same sh*t! Nothing "branched" from Hellkom will be candy. Period.

Oh, sorry, forgot to say: Did it in Fourways, lady TRIED TO service people well, but she was permanently sorting out problems on phone! It seems, her perfomance suppressed with all that stupidity in office "above" - it took HALF HOUR for one man to service. Next was some guy with 8ta phone - again she called at office, because that lazies "forgot" to activate his SIM. Next was me - serviced quite fast, thanks to her, but hell... why that "close to smart" 8ta cannot assign one person just for contracts?! Five people spent HOUR just to fill and sign that damn papers and stay in common queue, waiting while 8ta solves their problem!! Puff.... that 8ta (heita) on russian sounds like "dick" (vulg.). Really dick! Never seen service where YOU force people TO TAKE YOUR MONEY! Eish...

Slightly OT, but this was my experience with their call center...

I tried calling 8ta to ask if there was any way to know what kind of signal strength and/or speeds I would get in my area (I am covered according to the coverage map.

When the agent answered I asked her the above question, to which she replied:

"It is a 10 gig speed"

I was then placed on hold since the first person did not understand my question, but I just hung up.

I will try call later and hopefully will get somebody who knows the difference between gigs and kbps...

Our sh*tventure continues! :( Now 8ta caught my thought about deposit (it took 4 DAYS) and confirmed my contract, saying that I can visit 8ta office to finish deal. When I come, lady said I must bring PROOF OF PAYMENT! Great! Who said me to do it?! (person who call me didn't provide any account No, having all my details inc. e-mail). Why I gave "debit order" for 8ta? Instead of taking deposit from my account, they send me to bank (you know the story) and I again must visit their store with that damn paper. It's terrible... The way 8ta makes business in normal world named "monkey business" - absolutely unserious. Any deviation from instruction makes overload on manager's head. Cheap personnel never be cheap - 8ta looses money because of 'em.
I wish 8ta employee take medicine help the same way they service people - may be this will "upgrade" their staff list.
People, think twice before you sign anything with Hellkom/hu8a - problem with monkeys in business is not one-day trouble, 2 years in front.

You can test the network before signing up for Internet 5 Promo.

Get yourself a prepaid 8ta SIM.

Email [email protected] with the 8ta number and your contact details.

Request to have the prepaid SIM opened to the 8ta network.

Give us three working days to process.

For 8ta: thanks you care about customers, but nothing shifts forward. :( I wrote twice on your e-mail, people called me, but situation is as I described: someone sit in 8ta (in e-mail it was Tshepo Chadi), having no idea what is bank account number, giving me 22(!!!!!!) digits as a reference number (what is also abnormal). Don't you think it's enough to send people for "qualification upgrade" (say, for 5 years)?
I wanna one quite simple stuff: since you have my debit order, TAKE DEPOSIT BY YOURSELF. Answer please right here, since other people have almost same problem: are you able to take deposit by debit order? Of not, why?
And give please details who I can call directly about this. Your 081183 is useless, people sending me to each other and nobody can solve the problem - why you have so "branched" phone menu if nobody can help??

Just signed up at Cresta. Took ten minutes and was activated immediately.

Excellular.co.za - Awesome service from Yaseen.
Kept me in the loop and took all of 2 days to receive goods after paying.

One week past, all my emails to 8ta were forwarded "to appropriate person", but it seems "person" is capable to use phone only - no any reaction.
After I discovered that contract cancellation costs just R800, deposit asked by 8ta (R2800) seems to me a bit cheeky.
8ta rep: any comments why you take such deposit?

I just ordered mine over the phone... Quick and painless! Only drawback is I now have to wait 7-10days for delivery!

I'm thinking of doing the same tomorrow, as much as I appreciate the 8ta Go Big Deal, the service at the 8ta store in Pavilion I received was absoutley poor, I went in to take the contract that guy said 8ta does not allow to put it under business name as yet, so I said fine I'll put under my personal name, then he said I got declined reason being because I ported my number and only received 2 calls so far?????????????????????????:wtf: what does that have to do with taking out a broadband R 199 contract. He said thats how the 8ta system works it looks at your current number, I was gobsmacked! I just gave up ...... and walked away, polite chap but poor comunication and knowledge. He was talking as if he was against 8ta, saying they dont know what they doing as yet so he does not know exactly what to do, ETC ETC.

But the guy was polite and smiling throughout, so maybe he just needs training, I got nothing against him & I think he just needs better training.

it was like he didnt want me to take out the contract or was trying to make it hard, why I dont know. (With the utmost modesty my salary or equity definaltley cannot be an issue, besides that it is a R 199 deal)

for the 8ta agent here is my reference: 59389

I agree with Vincent. Although all the Telkom Direct staff may have been to a training course, no-one noticed whether they were asleep during that course. I had my R199 application declined because of "insufficient history", whatever that means. On enquiring, she blamed it on Telkom. I called Telkom to find out what "insufficient history" meant but she did not know. I have had 4 Telkom lines in my name since 1971 and have paid every bill 100% before due date.

Pavillion Flagship Store in Durban.
Awsome service from Natly !!

For 8ta rep: You have website, but I see no any _useful_ contacts: no emails, no phone numbers for all your branches. How it's possible to contact 'em?
Specifically, I wanna know is there any E367 modems at Fourways? This was the one reason I moved there from Cresta! And if your "business" is flexible enough (what I doubt), I prefer to get SIM and modem in Cresta (contract signed in Fourways, but who cares?).
