Hi, I've got a telkom 512 ADSL line and it's connecting to all internet sites fine, great speed, but no applications that run on the internet work at all (no internet connection is picked up) these include, all online games (WoW, GW, LOTRO) msn, winmx ect. I'm pretty much terrible with understanding this stuff but heres my story :

Well yesturday night my ADSL started playing up and the lag became horrible and the lower most left light of my ADSL router (not the power one :p) turned off (not sure what it's called sorry since I have a new router now). Last night before this everything was working fine and then can't connect to the internet at all.

So I phone in the next and I'm told to get a new modem..so I change in my older model modem for a new one and get home and install it. So after a couple of phone calls I finally work out how to get it working again, all lights on and stable. I'm connected by LAN and I no longer have to sign in or whatever to get connected to the internet (was like this on my old modem...think I had it set like that for some reason). The strange this is that my internet is working fine...but no applications/games work as stated above.
I phoned telkom at least 7 times, spent alot of time on the phone and eventually I'm told it's an error they've never seen before...so they connect me to one of thier ''professionals'' who tells me that I need to get unshaped adsl for my applications/games to work!? What rubbish. If it was working fine 24 hours ago, it should work fine now. I'm connected to the internet so why can't applications find a connection?

I'm a total idiot when it comes to setting up modems, so I apologise for my ignorance...I'll be spamming my refresh button after I post this :p so I would be grateful for any help at all. MSN error message is 8100030e btw, saw a thread related to this.

Thanks for any help! :)

I really dont think itz yr line. Can only be settings in yr router or fault within IE. Tried running yr dsl on another PC? If yes then definitely router settings.
Have u installed a suspect app/update prior to this...

Ok, I'll try run it on the other PC that I have connected on the same line..I haven't installed any new software since the last time everything was working fine.

Ok tested on other PC...exactly the same result..messed around a bit with the router settings and turned the firewall off.... I can get into ''success'' in WoW and MSN displays another error message now ''make sure you are connected to the internet'' so moving foward here :p took me about 20 mins to get back to this page, speed is horrible :(

with MSN u need to be in "online" mode.

If you don't use IE much u might have that in "Work Offline" mode, then MSN won't work. Go into IE and make sure u can view sites, close it the check MSN. I know most people use Firefox (I do) and I couldnt log into MSN cause my IE was in offline mode.

Otherwise no idea...

Still doesn't work Wildcat. How can I set my connected back to the oil ''dial in'' connection (where it doesn't automatically connect)
