Monitor or GPU issue?

Hi there.

Hope you guys can help me out here.

I'm running a Qnix QX2710 27" monitor. it's been working out fine since I got it till last night I was playing BF3 my game crashed. It showed me for a blue then green then red screen each for a few milliseconds. i haven't overclocked my gpu's. Then i went into planetside 2 and I could see green dots at the border of an object especially when I view the map. Started up Far cry 3 and i get horizontal lines and it looks almost like artifacts. Now i have no issue to upgrade my GPU but if I don't have to I'll be happy to wait for GTX780 Lightning.

My screen is running at default 60hz/59hz. I also swapped my cards around and it's seems better in planetside 2 but my far cry is still not working fine. haven't tested Battlefield 3 yet. I also have frame render ahead to 1 in Planetside 2 and frame render ahead 2 Battlefield 3 and also in Far cry 3 I have 1 frame as vsync option. I tried Crysis 3 on max details and max resolution(2560x1440) and nothing. no artifacts etc etc. also lowered the settings so that I can get 100FPS and no issue. Can it be that in some games my gpu is a bit unstable? Funny thing is I tried my old asus ve247H monitor and stuff works but bare in mind it doesn't use dual link dvi and also not 2560x1440 and I was using the same cable. Aslo funny that it only does that in some games it seems.

What driver version are you using? It should be 320.49 not earlier or later.

"Strange issue" is not a very helpful header - you could be referring to the situation in Syria - perhaps "Qnix QX2710 27" monitor issues" would bring the right people to your question.

just a thought.

Sounds more like a gpu/driver issue and not a monitor issue.

I was thinking of waiting for the 780 lightning and just go for that cause I have the money. I was running the 326.41 driver when this happened but now running 320.49. Will see how it goes

Yeah definitely. Driver issue or GPU is busy croaking.

So do you guys think i should upgrade my GPU? I have the money to go 780 maybe wait till lightning comes out I will get that.

Why not just go for the dual GPU 7990 instead? It is cheaper (or at least the following Powercolor AX7990 is) and outperfoms the GTX780 quite far!

Your issue definitely sounds like a driver/GPU related issue.

Perhaps consider downclocking your graphics cards, as well as boosting their voltages slightly...

Ok I just tested again and my screen shakes when playing planetside 2.

Edit: Took out one card and everything works without any issues. The only problem is my performance sucks. Now my upgrade should come sooner. maybe end of the year

So I removed my one card. Now only running 1x GTX570. OMW my games won't be as smooth but at least it fixed my flickering. I can go as high as 96Hz won't try further cause I don't want to break the screen. I'm so happy I know what the issue is. Still could be the motherboards PCIe slot but not going to worry. Will just get a single card cause actually i had issues for so long now with this SLI system of mine. I think for the most part SLI is bull****. Just get a top of the line card like MSI lightning and overclock it like mad.

I hope you have Vertical Sync on Always On or on Adaptive (I prefer the Always On) with your screen. I have very nasty tearing on my Dell 30" (2560x1600) when I don't have Vsync enabled.

Secondly, try boosting the voltage and lowering the GPU clock speeds slightly to see if it still continues to give you strange issues.
