Student Banking

I've had an ABSA student account since i started studying (2005) and have not had any issues with them. I pay R15 a month and that includes internet banking, sms notifications, pos transactions and atm withdrawals. If your planning on being a student for a long time like me (I didnt fail! Went B.Sc, M.Sc, Phd) then you should use ABSA as they are the only bank out of the big four that will let you have a student account if you are over 26. This is also helpful if you want to go study again when you are older.

Go with the ABSA. I currently have the ABSA student account, with debit card and credit card (R200 limit), free internet banking etc. for only R15/month.

Do it like a lot of people I know, (ab)use ABSA for their student account, which is very cheap. Then simply move over to FNB when you start working. Thats what I'm doing next year. Definitely not staying with ABSA since they have extreme banking fees once you are not a student anymore....
