Subaru fans...

If You Were Looking For Another Chance To Buy Baby Driver's Subaru WRX This Is It

No, this isn’t the same Subaru WRX stunt car from Baby Driver that we wrote up over the summer. While that car had been converted to rear-wheel drive, this one is all-wheel drive.

Headed to Mecum’s Houston auction next month, this is another shot at taking home a red Subaru WRX stunt car used in the movie. It comes with modifications like a CNC hydraulic handbrake, OS Giken front differential, Cusco rear LSD, forged CP pistons and Exedy Stage 1 clutch. These are definitely things you rattle off to your friends the next time you guys hang out. It’ll blow their minds.

It also has an all-wheel drive ST1 drivetrain swap, installed by Allpro Subaru in Alpharetta, Georgia, so you can finally pull off those sweet, AWD drifts. Just don’t use the car to, you know, rob a bank.

In addition to the car, you’ll also get a build sheet, receipts and matched screen shots for your Baby Driver fan cave. Imagine the bragging rights!

Mecum didn’t list a price for the WRX yet, but it probably won’t be cheap, considering the other car sold for nearly $70,000. Sorry. That’s the price you have to pay for being so close to fame.

Subaru's are awesome but pity about the head gasket failure issue some models are plagued with and R12k Cambelt service.

I was looking at one and then I just thought nah.

Cant think of a head gasket issue with any specific models ?

12k is this from the dealership ? i Would buy an aftermarket kevlar gates timming belt kit for +-5k which includes all pulleys , the belt etc , and take it to a indie mechanic ... sorted

Head gasket issue is widespread, may Google be your servant.

Agents are apparently R14k+ if they do the full job, if you self import spares you can save but its still going to be pushing R10k incl labour at indie.

o well then its a vw i guess :D

oh and i own 2 subarus + nobody in the subaru club seems to have had these "dreaded head gasket issues" you talk about.Maybe it was a thing from the 90s , but havent heard anything bad from the 2000s upwards. But if head gaskets frighten you then a subaru is not meant for you.Engine rebuilds are a common thing with us scoobie guys. Both my scoobs are on there 2nd engines.

You guys probably replace the engines before the head gasket has a chance to leak, issue was widespread in some subaru's up till 2005 I think, but the legacy lives on it seems still many a spooked ex Subaru owner out there.

seems like you really want to hammer on about this head gasket story so as to justify not buying a subaru.Rather do yourself a favour and go buy a golf or toyota corolla :crylaugh:

AFAIK head gaskets are only an issue if you start bumping up the boost on the turbo. A bigger issue is the brittleness of the piston rings on the scoobs. Standard tune, especially on the STI models, is too lean. Lean running leads to detonation and that combined with engine cooling and crappy pistons leads to cracking ring lands.

Sorry for hurting your feelings bro.

Dude, you know the answer, is it going to be a Golf or Corrola?

Not a corolla, those engines are underpowered, only decent one is possibly the diesel.

Go golf.

Those of us with subarus will keep on enjoying them
