2018 Subaru Levorg
Subaru Southern Africa has confirmed that the new Impreza will arrive in South Africa in the second quarter of 2017, with the Levorg wagon set to follow in the following quarter.
The new XV and updated WRX and WRX STI are also scheduled to arrive around the same period.
The Levorg wagon shares its platform with the Impreza and Legacy, and employs the Japanese brand’s familiar 197 kW/350 N.m 2,0-litre turbocharged flat-four engine linked to an all-wheel-drive system.
Subaru describes the Levorg as “a seamless crossbreed of performance vehicle and family wagon, all packaged in a stylish yet undeniably sporty design”.
The Levorg that will arrive in local showrooms in the third quarter of the year will be the 2018-spec model, which features updates in exterior and interior styling as well as “suspension enhancements”.
The latest generation Impreza, meanwhile, is now propelled by a new 115 kW 2,0-litre Boxer engine. It’s built on the new Subaru Global Platform and also features Active Torque Vectoring.
And the new Subaru XV? Well, it will be launched locally with an “X-Mode” system (including hill descent control) and an all-new interior design to mirror that of the Impreza.
Lastly, Subaru SA also confirmed that updated versions of the WRX and WRX STI are on their way to South Africa

fun fact the sti version 6 was faster than the 22b. But that wide body coupe body mmmmm
A 2000 model sti 6 had a zero to 100 of 4.9 seconds. That's like 17 years ago and still faster that the than 90% of hot hatched produced today.

28 Years ago, the first-generation Subaru Legacy set a world speed record. How fast did the Legacy go?
Subaru has been about setting records as far back as 1989, and on January 21, 1989, they broke 2 world records and 13 international records. Quite an achievement for the tiny Japanese automaker. In 1989, the first-generation Subaru Legacy took on the 100,000 km FIA World Land Endurance Record outside of Phoenix, Arizona. The high-performance Legacy broke the world record by maintaining an average speed of 223.345 km/h (138.78 mph) thus completing 100,000 km in 447 hours, 44 minutes, and 9.887 seconds.
How did they do it?
The Legacy was developed by Subaru to replace the Leone and it’s still a mainstay in the Subaru lineup today. Subaru set out to showcase their new engine and all-wheel-drive technologies. The small Japanese automaker showed the world what these new technologies could do by setting this world speed record. The new world record took 18.5 days to complete and the record held until the end of April 2005
The original Legacy speed record was set between January 2 and January 21, 1989, with three Japanese-spec turbocharged RS sedans at the Arizona Test Center outside of Phoenix, Arizona. Pit stops were made every two hours with a driver change and refueling, while tire changes were made at 96‑hour intervals, or every 13,400 miles (21,600 km) driven.
In 1993 Subaru set another world speed record for station wagons with an average speed of 249.981 km/h over 1 km with the Legacy wagon at the U.S. Salt Lake Challenge. In 1998 The Legacy wagon set another new world speed record with an average speed of 270.532 km/h over 1 km.
By setting these world records, Subaru began to build its reputation as being one of the most reliable and durable automakers on the planet. Watch the Japanese video below to get a better idea of what it took to pull off the new record.

Subaru WRX STI Type RA NBR claims Nurburgring sedan record with 6:57.5 lap
Weather did not spite Subaru today. After torrential downpours derailed its first effort at a Nürburgring lap record, Subaru returned to the Green Hell with its WRX STI Type RA NBR and rung up a 6:57.5, a record-breaking run around Germany's most notorious race track.
Subaru completed the run not with Mark Higgins at the wheel, who piloted the Type RA NBR at Goodwood, but with 25-year-old Richie Stanaway. The Kiwi racing driver has run in multiple World Endurance Championships and 24 Hours of Le Mans races for Aston Martin Racing and was at the controls for Subaru's rained-out effort in May.
Taking the record for fastest four-door required a wildly modified WRX STI, which we saw in person at last month's Goodwood Festival of Speed. Subaru and the racing experts at Prodrive evaluated and then improved virtually every component on this car, as we learned last month at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
There's over 600 horsepower from a heavily massaged 2.0-liter, turbocharged flat-4, while a six-speed sequential gearbox is capable of extremely quick shifts. A driver-controlled adjustable spoiler allowed Stanaway to dial in more or less rear downforce as needed, while a heavily upgraded suspension coped with the Ring's bumpiness while keeping all four super-sticky Dunlops on the road. Dude appreciate your posts but i dont think this thread is gonna get much activity.Too many flappy paddle type of guys on this forum , who seem more keen on ass warming seats , alcantara dash interiors and Infotainment systems etc :crylaugh::crylaugh::crylaugh:

The Legacy is a good choice for those who don't want to challenged at every traffic light by a Polo with an airfilter.
