They both under 300hp?
So slower than every other car in this segment?

The golf r is the same power as the STi and cheaper than the wrx?

How did Subaru manage to get so little horsepower from a 2.5 flat four turbo?

I don't want to start the discussion all over again, however, I am not looking forward to the first comments on the "sound" the car makes...it is exceptionally quiet, so the sound boys will be disappointed.

You want Scoobie sound, you have to go unequal headers and sport exhaust, unfortunately.

As for our prices, what you see is what you get - no extras, no rubbish, unless you want to add your own stuff, but not ex factory.

Because it's a 2.0 litre??

It always amazes me what cr@p people say, when they haven't even seen a bloody car, never mind drive it!

It is finally looking like a mature and dare I say sexy care.

The Golf R looks like the kid's toy it is in comparison.

Did you see the concept wrx? Man that was hot. This is still the best looking wrx in my opinion, but it's a few steps down from a seriously awesome concept car.

R450k? Uh, yes, I'd rather buy a real car. A Lexis IS350. Has a real engine (ain't no space for any 2.0 turbo here), smooth ride, and goes like stink. Used to be a Subaru fan, but honestly, I'd rather just get the alternative Lexus.

Yeah.

I've made peace that concepts never make it to the road.

It's not nearly the same car though. IS350 is a luxury family sedan. The WRX is a enthusiast race car.
If you prefer the Lexus that's fine, but it's because you prefer a different segment of car.

You could take the Lexus to the race track, if you want I guess, but your view will be obscured by the WRX in front of you cornering like a boss :)

Please go test drive a new Lexus IS350 before you make silly comments like this. Sadly Subaru isn't that great anymore. The fact that this "family saloon" is safer, faster, and prettier than a Subaru. They might not be the same car, but in reality, this is a no brainer, do you take the over rated Subaru, or do you take the under rated, much better Lexus? The Lexus will out live the Subaru. The Lexus is cheaper to maintain even. The Lexus won't cost you an arm and a leg to go fill up, as its much more fuel efficient. At R450k, the Subaru isn't convincing me. I'd rather take the Lexus.

I'm sure that the Subaru will easily beat the Lexus around the track. It's built for the track and if you check out the reviews it handles like a beaut. But if you have evidence to the contrary, I'd like to be pleasantly surprised. I assume you have some stats of the Lexus around a track to call my comments silly. Or not?

Edit: It's like saying you prefer a Merc to a Subaru. Sure I'm not saying you won't, but it's not the same thing. Not sure if you understand you are comparing 2 very different cars.

P.S the Lexus is rear-wheel drive, not 4wd. So you really are comparing apples to oranges.

Amazing - such insight into a car that you have neither driven nor experienced in any way manner or form.

And written with such certainty as well.

How does your total lack of knowledge of the new WRX make you an expert?

I can confidently state that you haven't been near the car unless you work for Subaru, or are a motoring journalist who has just returned from the launch.

How can you say what you say above??

I DO work for Subaru, and I HAVE driven the car, and you are talking utter rubbish.

For god's sake go out and drive the car, before you come and spew any more rubbish in this thread.

Here's a comparison between the Lexus in 2 other's in it's class.
