Suggestions for Vodacom data network

Although the forum contains a wealth of knowledge, it's not easy to find something by searching for it.

This is a good indication of the problem to build a web-site like help.vodacom.co.za. The content itself is not so difficult; trying to structure it so you can find it, is massively complex. Trying to follow any human reasoning in a web-page structure is not easy.

I've been involved in the 'Trinity' project from the beginning and believe me, it's not easy to write the flow diagrams.

But at least it's a start, can't think of any other provider who offers something similar at the moment.

But I could be wrong maybe someone can point us in the right direction?

Now this is what I like to hear. Do developer's and programmers still do flow diagrams before they start programming a system. I dont believe this is used anymore, pity. If the flow diagram is well planned then the rest is rather easy I would say.

While I haven't looked at help.vodacom.co.za for quite a while, it would be nice if a trouble ticketing system could be added there - if it hasn't already been added.

Yes, please I would like a automated reply with a ref# when I mail 155datasupport at vodacom.co.za.

I mailed them on Thursday evening because the throughput (even for GPRS) out a Diaz Beach was shocking (24 kbps up / 28 kbps down). No reply or acknowledgement of receipt. I do however not know if that is the correct address to mail them at. Things did seem to be better late on Friday, so either it fixed itself, or someone did a attend to it. Either way I don't know.

What email address did you send your email to? - I send my emails to [email protected] and always receive an automated reply which includes a reference number, although the last 2 emails that I sent last week and received automated replies with reference numbers, have not been replied to by humans...:(

<added>I have just received a humanoidal reply to one of the emails I sent last week to [email protected], with an apology for the delay.</added>

155datasupport at vodacom.co.za - happens to be on the unrestricted apn application form. I guessed it might be the direct route to report data problems.

Never heard of that email address, but I've also never applied for nor used the unrestricted APN.

AFAIK the correct email address to use [for non-unrestricted APN issues] is [email protected].

@v3g, a status update if you please - what happened to the block of 'publicly routable' IPv4 IP addresses for the internet APN...? - as of about 1 week ago I was still getting Class C IP address assignments using the internet APN.

Busy rolling out as we speak. Will be in the 41.x.x.x range. Will probably be a longish project as it will have to make some changes to the core network.

You should be getting a 10.x.x.x IP at the moment, another Class-A (but then we're not allowed to talk about Class A, B and C ;))

Cool, was just wondering if a brick wall had suddenly jumped in the way of implementation, but good to know that the project is still on the go :).

I know, CIDR this and CIDR that :).

Which off course, does not negate the concept of the classes.....

As with any project in a network this big, it takes a while to plan and execute. And we'll probably have a few unforeseen side effects here and there.
